Just OK

Went to teh Wildfire as an anniversary dinner with my wife. I had a Groupon to use for a 4 course dinner for 2. The chef inspired started consisted of 3 different bites X 2. The Groupon stated 2 PLATES of starters. The appetizers though were the hi-lite of the meal. Escargot and caesar salad. The mains were terrible. My wife had a strip loin that was so fatty she barely ate 1/3 of it. My dish was a mixed Churrasco plate that the chicken was good but the ribs were very much a joke. The table beside us had the same plate as I ordered but his was much more appetizing than mine. Their vegetables were barely cooked too. I do not like it when they are over cooked but at least cook them for more than 10 seconds. And the dessert was a huge dissapointment. My wife had the creme brulee and I had the red velvet cake. She had 3 bites and couldn't eat the rest and my cake, even though it is advertised on the dessert list as "MOIST" was very dry. I honestly think that once they saw the Groupon they went into cruise control and didn't care about our table. BIG MISTAKE The receptionist and the person that sat us were extremely professional. I will never go back and will tell all my friends what we experienced.

Bland and blah

The service was exceptionally slow and this was a Tuesday night--the place was not bursting at the seams by a long shot. The waiter was too much of a salesman--we told him we don't drink and he suggested their wine list was so good we should try it anyway. My husband's entree seemed to have been switched out for lack of ingredients; it was supposed to be a chipotle pasta dish. It tasted like beef stroganoff. My escargot was somewhat tasteless. The pecan tart was mealy and my creme brulee barely room temperature. Overall, they seem to be relying on a name and a flashy interior rather than attention to detail.

UNFORGIVEABLE EXPERIENCE & CUSTOMER SERVICE

We had been to Wildfire before, and had a less than perfect experience, but decided to try them again. The appetizer selection was really good, and the service also very good. However, on this visit, we had a very unpleasant experience, made even more unpleasant by the lack of follow-up by the manager. We're sitting at a table in front of a wine cabinet. Towards the end of our dinner, they asked us to get up so they could retrieve an $800 bottle of wine for another guest. We had to interrupt our meal, and stand up in the middle, for not 30 seconds, not 2 minutes but 7 minutes, while several staff physically moved our table, placed bottles of wine on our table while searching for the "expensive" one at the back, until they finally got it. My food obviously got cold, and the whole experience was ruined. Did they try to make it up to us, or comp us for any of the meal or dessert? No. After we paid the bill they gave us a doggie bag with a chocolate tart to take home for the trouble. They didn't even bring it to us on a plate or comp us for the dessert we paid for, which was $11. OK, so they screwed up. Surely, the manager would like to have us return. Nope. I spoke to 2 managers and he said that we should have been inconvenienced for only 30 seconds at the most, and our experience was just as important as the customers ordering an $800 bottle of wine. Although he said he would investigate and get back to us, he never did. By the way, the chicken was average at best and the potatoes were bland and awful.

Great Service

I don't frequent bars of this type, however their was a deal going on and we decided to give it a shot. We went there and the service was great overall. We went during lunch hours and they were empty so we were seated quickly. The food was nothing special but the decor is what had our interest. although good overall, wont be returning as its a bit pricey to frequent for us.

Great Meal

This has to be my favorite Steak House in the city. Great wine selection, fantastic food and unbeatable decor. They are a little on the expensive side, but it's well worth it.

Did not like it! After moving to the neighborhood, we decided to try this place since it was advertised as being a great steakhouse. The steak was average and I mean average! I grill better steaks at home! The waiter tried valiantly to make our evening enjoyable with complimentary desserts and reasonable service but our $200 tab at the end definately wasnt worth it. Yonge and LAwrence has so many good restaurants. Go somewhere else. This just doesn't cut it.......

I was embarrassed by these guys when I took my date out for a great night and it turned out to be anything but. The food was bad but the 'service' was worse. SHAME on them for being so rude. They think they are something special but it is full of losers who THINK they are special. The steak was as bad as the grizzle fest at Ruth's Chris and the service as bad as a Caribbean jerky shop.

Eight of us decided to go out to mark our CMA graduation. I had been to wildfire before but not for a couple of years - why not give it another chance? Bad idea. We had reservations but it took an extra 30 mins to get a table. We ordered appitizers and drinks which got mixed up and some never arrived. After ordering a wine and entries we again waited forever with no check-up, appologies, or attention at all. When our meals arrived some were cold, one missing, and one just totally wrong. The bill came with additional items, plus 15% added and our waiter and management were totally unresponsive to our legitimate concerns. DO NOT GO !!! WHAT A DISASTER!

Steakhouse Not Sure

My wife and I went for dinner on a Saturday night. We arrived about 5:30 we are the first ones to arrive that night. We were promptly greeted and seated by Peter who was very professional and I believe he was the manager that night. My wife ordered the cedar plank Salmon and I had the Sterling Silver NewYork Strip steak. I had ordered medium rare, when it arrived it looked really charred on the outside, when I cut into it it appeared more well done that medium rare. I thought for 42$ that I wanted a better steak. I sent it back and shortly after they brought out another that looked much better. I started eating it and as I got into the thicker middle it was dark red almost to the point of still being cold in the middle. I again sent it back and decided I had enough. I definitley noticed a change in the waiters personality after sending back 2 meals. The manager Peter did come by and appologized and took it off the bill. I am surprised that claiming to be a steakhouse that they are not very good at grilling steaks. The place was nice inside, but with all the other restaraunts in the area I would go elese where next time.

Go there to enjoy the steaks

I have been to Wildire 4 times now in total with my partner and we know exactly when to go: when we have a craving for great steak. The Sterling Silver steaks are incredible, and I heard good things about the fresh fish also, but don't bother with the Piri Piri Chicken or the ribs. Our waiter was incredible the last time we were there, sommelier with excellent knowledge and lots of time to talk to us about their wine. He originally recommended for us go for an Australian, but because my friends were from Germany and wanted to try a local wine, he gave us a lot of good tips about local ones and even let us try a couple of different wines for comparison before we decided on one. Incredibly nice!

Food was deplorable and so was the waiter. The rating should be in the negative zone. For this year's Summerlicious 2007, do not order the Seafood Linguine. It arrived luke warm like a dry orange mop head, with 3 little rubbery shrimps, one broken up scallop and pitiful shavings of what I think might be parmesan cheese. Chocolate torte was just as chokingly dry. The waiter needs to work on manners and common sense which he lack totally and entirely. This by far is the worst place to dine.

I don't know what the other guy is talking about so I wanted to review so people are not turned away. I had a fantastic meal, the service was amazing and it was a nice setting. I would defiantly go again and I know many others who feel the same way. Don't listen to the other guy - it is a great restaurant.
