There’s one Resonator guitar that Patrick Pidek built which he is not selling. “These guitars are used to play Slide Delta Blues, which is one of the styles I teach. I have one that I'll never part with though,” says Patrick. “It was signed by my favourite guitarist, Delta Blues star Johnny Winter. My daughter and I were invited to a personal meet and greet with Johnny in his RV before his last show at the Regent theatre in Oshawa. I gave him one of my slides and he played my custom made guitar while I sang some Muddy Waters tunes, and we met the rest of his band who also autographed it. We took some photos and the event was written up in our local newspaper. It was a fantastic experience and quite an honour.”
Guitar lessons are just the beginning at Patrick’s Guitar Studio. You can also learn the basics for starting a small band with electric and acoustic guitar, bass and drums. In fact, Patrick is equally happy to take on students who wish to focus on one instrument or two or three, as he believes that it helps to round-out their musical appreciation. “It helps for a musician to know how the instruments all work together, especially when they’re playing live.”
As for musical styles, Patrick’s Guitar Studio offers the whole gamut with Rock, Pop, Country, Jazz and Punk lessons available. “Playing for many years in different bands around Toronto and across Canada has taught me many different musical styles,” says Patrick.
I started with Patrick a few months ago. As an adult learner and someone who was already reasonably familiar with how to play I didnt really want to go back to basics. Patrick has been very accommodating in a non-standard approach with me. And we get to jam which is worth the money alone! Dave
I recently took lessons with Patrick and I found him to be a very good teacher , very patient and a great guitar player . Patrick is also a wizard at setting guitars up , my firebird plays great now thanks to him , prices are very reasonable.
I have been with Patrick for a while now and have found him very knowledgable about guitar and easy to learn from. I played guitar a little when I was younger and Patrick has helped me renew my interest at my pace.
