I'm officially a regular- love it

I come approx. once every month or two and I love it. I admit I get the same dish every time but it is my favorite, what can I say. My company usually switches it up so I've tried some other items and I like it all. My service is always great (especially when I get Edie) but all the servers are nice. Food always comes quickly and service (even simply filling up water gasses) is prompt. People need to realize that at 6 pm on a Saturday night the place is going to be busy no matter what so service and atmosphere will no be as great. I go to restaurants at NON PEAK times to enjoy a quiet meal with no wait, paticularily if I bring my young son. Spagos is wonderful and the food is great quality! Best manocotti ever!!

DECENT ITALIAN FOOD

Spago's is a very decent place for Italian food. We had great and professional service. All the food came out on time just the way we ordered it. Great for a nice family meal. The Gnocchi dish was very small for the price we paid, but everything else was good.

Service was Awful, Food was Great

The food was excellent, but not good enough to justify the horrible service from our waiter. We almost walked out just before the appetizer. Waited 10 minutes to sit, 10 minutes to get a menu, 10 minutes to get drinks. Yes it was busy, but our waiter seemed to be walking in circles, and lacked people skills. If it wasn't for other waiters and waitresses, our drinks would have sat empty the entire time. Anyway - the food was excellent, no complaints there. I had the special, which was a 3 cheese raviloi, my girlfriend had an excellent chicken dish with prosuitto. We had rice/cheese ball appetizer, sorry I cannot remember the Italian name for it. The wine was served in a kids juice glass, instead of a wine glass, which I found strange. Anyway - with so many great restaurants on Erie street, I can't see trying Spago again. There service at Spago in Tecumseh and Leamington was always bad too - so I wasn't too surprised. Come on Wolfgang! These chumps are ruining your good name!

I went to Spago based on reviews here. I was very dissapointed. This place is not very Italian. The menu is limited and the food quality is not very good. Its very "frozen entree" in quality and taste. Not real chef abilities here. Just OK food. To think its something special I would have to surmise the eater has not been to many places. Salad was OK. Not bad at all but not mind blowing. Best part of the meal. The rest of the food was extremely over priced to quality. Canneloni that was very bland. Gnochi that was plain yet with overpowering Basil. No real taste blend to anything. Again - I could go to any grocery store and get frozen food of this quality. The daily special was priced higher than the menu items. When I go out for a meal I'd like to have a Mmmm thats good experience. Here it was eatable but not something I'd cross the street for and at the prices - no way I'd ever go back. Service was OK but also just OK. Overall the impression I has was that I got ripped off and will not be going back. One of the worst restaurant expereinces of recent years all related to food quality.

Spago good food reasonable price

Appetizers are good. Great bread with roasted garlic, olive oil and balsamic. Salads are cold and tasty, with not too much dressing. Pasta with mussels and white wine sauce is fantastic. I love the gnocchi. Bonus - they have whole wheat pasta! Risottos are wonderful, and can be made with barley. Only drawback is that it can get too loud when it's busy.

The restaurant was fairly busy for a Saturday night, I don't think the restaurant expected it, must have been a lot of walkins. The food took forever to receive. There were 5 children at the table, and they waited until all food (adult and children)was prepared before they received their own dinners. The least the restaurant could have done was serve them (ages 5 - 8), the adults could have waited. This was communicated to the waiter on numerous occasions, all we received was an apology for the wait. We waited over an hour. The pizza were burnt, the fish was overcooked, the pasta was cold. Never in my experience dining on Erie Street did I receive such poor service. Spago's used to be a very reputable name on Erie Street and unfortunately for them their service has gone down the toilet. It's service like this that keep the people away. I have never written a review about any restaurant, but this night was unforgettable. Unfortunately, neither myself or any member or my family and we are a huge family, will return to any Spago location.

I lived in Windsor for 4 years, then moved to Toronto. I can honestly say this is by far the best Italian restaurant in Canada. I have eaten at over 30 high end Italian restaurants all across Toronto, and nothing comes close. Spago is the complete package, everytime I visit Windsor I have to go. In particular the sauce for the baked eggplant is unbelievable.

Extremely good wood fired pizza. The best I have had in Windsor and Detroit area. Pasta is homemade and incredible. The bread served with roasted garlic is wonderful. The Chanti is the best. I have been to Spago's half a dozen times and it is the best Italian in the midwest hands down. I like the lower level restaurant, nice and casual. The service of the waitstaff is as good as Grand Hotel's main dining room. The waiters are exceptional and the matre d misses nothing. You must go...

Had the fried calamari for an appetizer and mushroom pizza for dinner. The pizza was excellent. It rivals many of the brick oven pizza places in New York City (I am from NY, so I know those places very well). The services was also very good. I would strongly suggest cutting back on the drinks. The glasses are small, the prices a little high, adn the Canadian taxes are eye popping. With those caveats, I would definitely go back.
