Meet the owner
Sushi is one of the hottest foods in the Greater Toronto Region, a reflection of our multicultural heritage and inclusivity. So, when Sara opened Kogaeni in 2002, she knew she had hit upon the perfect restaurant idea. Her background in the restaurant business taught her many valuable lessons, such as being flexible with food orders, making sure customers are satisfied no matter what the situation, and designing an atmosphere that’ll make people want to come back again and again. She brings all these elements to Koganei, making it the best place in Woodbridge to get that feeling that you’re in Japan for the evening.

Worst service ever: I ordered take out, server's comprehension level was good enough to understand: $12.95 lunch combo, I mentioned the one with Salmon too. When I went to pick up, I got the wrong order. Manager came out frustrated saying I told them the wrong order but in reality they mistakenly gave me the dinner menu with grilled salmon, he went further to disrespect me by bringing a menu to prove there is no Salmon on the Lunch menu but clearly there the first thing on menu was Salmon Hand Rolls. The doesn't know what's on his menu. He goes ahead gives me a replacement in the end but he burnt the bridge after I brought so much business in for the past 5 years which of course is not important to him.

Food: Last week was my first time trying Koganei so I didn't get to try lots of food. However, Koganei roll was one of the best roll I ever had. it's bit pricey for a roll (almost $15 with tax) but it's worth it. I do not know exactly what's in the roll (it's shrimp tempura roll with some little bit spicy orange-red stuff with tiny fish eggs on the top) but it was amazing. (I wish red stuff on the top was more spicier though.) I also tried miso base noodle soup (noodles and veggies in miso soup) which was salty for my taste. did not really like it. Service: wait staffs were nice and helpful. when i went, there weren't many people in the restaurant so i didn't have to wait long to order and get my food. Atmosphere: table setting seemed little weird to me because little table for 2 people were placed right next to booth but decor was good.

Favourite Japanese Restaurant
I love this Japanese restaurant. they have such a variety of food. I believe they have on the largest selection of sushi rolls including original sushi rolls no other place offers. Their sushi and fish are always fresh. They have chinese dishes you can order if sushi isn't your thing. I absoloutely love their chicken terrikyi, black cod, seaweed dumplings and green tea cheesecake. This place is like no other. I give it the WOW factor.

Koganei is always good. THE koganei roll is amazing!! to die for!! however it is a little expensive but that because the quality is so much better!! service is oki too just dont have a heart attack when the bill comes ..:)

Great place, amazing food. We go there all the time and sometimes cooks do something cute for us, like decorating sushi looking like a spider....I love it there. You really feel comfy there, you can eat and relax. I would recomend that place to anyone.

Gone downhill
Use to go there quite often, but quality has gone downhill and the service was horrible. One of us had to wait 1 hour before being served, while everyone else's food had arrived. No apologies or anything.

This place is so over-rated! I went there tonight because the majority of reviewers gave it a 10/10. We were so disappointed. The chicken had no flavor in it, and was very average. There are much better Japanese restaurants, trust me! We joked that the people who rated this 10/10 on the site, must be the ones be working there.
