Open since 1996, L’Amère à Boire is a classic brew pub in Montreal’s budding beer scene. This microbrewery channels traditional European flavours through its in-house brews and sophisticated atmosphere. The owners share a love for quality craft beer, and hope that their dedication shines through each draft pour.

Currently featuring nine beers from its 20-core recipes, L’Amère à Boire has something for everyone with its stouts, lagers and blondes. “Our most popular beer right now is the Černá Hora,” says co-owner René Guindon. This Czech-style lager, as well as the rest of the selection, is created with prime supplies gathered from the source itself. They try to find the best ingredients that truly represent European flavours, even if that requires importing genuine hops from the Czech Republic.

    Established in 1996 in a busy downtown neighbourhood, this brewery makes its own European-inspired beers on-site. You get to choose from a rainbow of beer colours inspired by brews from Germany, Denmark, the Czech Republic and Britain. Whether you choose an ale or a lager, with further options of coffee, hazelnut and caramel accents, you'll probably also want to try one of their dishes: tapas, fish and chips, or a burger (with beef, pulled pork, rabbit or venison).
