Clinique Santé-Voyage De Montréal

Clinique Santé-Voyage de Montreal is a health centre specializing in travel medicine. Dr. Dominque Trempe has been welcoming travellers since the clinic opened in the 1980s. He's also contributed to the clinic's development over the years along with other doctors such as Dr. Gilles Lambert, Dr. Gisele Trudeau, and Dr. Sylvain Varin. The clinic was initially located at the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital, under the management of the current Public Health Department. "It was under the auspices of Dr. Gilles Lambert that the early versions of the travel health intervention guide were developed — a highly appreciated tool in Quebec," explains Dr. Trempe.

The family doctor is one of the recognized travel health experts in Quebec. "When I knew we were going to open a clinic for travellers I jumped at the chance," he says. "It was a great period of development for travel medicine. There was little research at the time, we were training among ourselves." The doctor has a great love for geography, mountains, and the unpleasant microbes associated with them, as well as for the preventive aspect of medicine. So it's no surprise that he's still there for travellers returning from a trip and works as a consultant for participants in the Canada World Youth organization. He's also a clinical professor at the University of Montreal and can be found on the palliative care floor of the Maisonneuve-Rosemont Hospital.
