Meet the owner

By 2017, the Petit Alep — the younger sibling of Restaurant Aleppo, founded in the 1970s by George Frangié — cut a fine figure in the Villeray-Petite-Patrie neighbourhood. At the start, the area had only Italian restaurants, so the restaurant's founder made it his goal to create a vibrant space that celebrated and shared Syrian and Armenian cultures. Le Petit Alep is a story about family, passion, and life for the Frangié girls.

Co-founded by Tania and Chahla in the '90s, Le Petit Alep has remained tuned into its customers. Both institutions have always been keen to promote art and to host singers, musicians and artists at their table. The restaurant was initially a performance space but now lends its walls to local artists for bi-monthly exhibitions. By carrying on the family tradition, the two sisters have managed to develop the site by surrounding themselves with top sommeliers and continuing their culinary explorations.

As the name hints at, Petit Alep is the little brother of Restaurant Alep. This bistro mixes Armenian and Syrian cultures for a gastronomic journey of discovery – one that you won’t regret taking! We mainly go there for delicious mezzes (hummus, mouhamara, vine leaves and labnehs) and amazing wine and food pairings.

Here we travel to Syria and Armenia, where the closest things to sunshine this holiday season are the Mazzas, grilled meats and other dishes that warm the heart! Start your experience with small sharing dishes: Mouhamara, hummus, garlic Labneh, Kebbé nayé, vine leaves and Akrass Naanaa. If you’re still hungry, order a Chiche Kabab or tasting platter, which includes the Kabab d’Alep, the Chiche Kabab and the Chiche Taouck.

Neighbour of the restaurant Aleppo, this small, bustling and very nice restaurant, open lunchtime and evenings, offers tasty Syrian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere, highlighted by a very vast selection of "natural" wines.
