Sébastien Leduc arrived from Nice, France, at the beginning of 2011 and did not waste any time opening his restaurant. He quickly found an abandoned locale on Saint Denis Street and went straight to work developing the concept for Bastoun.
Bastoun is a tapas bar where the influences of French and Spanish cuisines merge, along with nods to Quebec's culinary culture. The restaurant was renovated from top to bottom, decorated with inspiration and warmth, and opened its doors a few months later.
Sébastien chose to establish himself in Montreal because he knew the city well; being a fan of the culture and lifestyle, he'd already vacationed in the city several times. Sébastien also took into account Montreal's languages, which gave him the opportunity to enjoy the best of both worlds: a North American city where French is spoken.
This tapas bar on Saint Denis Street is first and foremost a feast for the eyes thanks to its very welcoming decor. Here, the tapas are king. Deer tartare, fried calamari, duck foie gras, Burgundy escargot...mmm! Those who prefer a different dish can fall back on duck breast poutine, pesto and prosciutto penne, or flank steak.
