Meet the owner

Laurent Farre and Alain Rochard have long been connected to a Saint-Denis Street restaurant that sustained an epicurean and eclectic crowd for more than 25 years. The Bistro Continental, fondly referred to as 'Conti", was known for its tasty tartare, succulent duck and fabulous figcar paccio with goat cheese.

But the Conti was also known for its wine list, comprised of private imports and selections from Laurent and Alain's vineyard, Vignoble du Loup blanc, located in France's Minervois wine region.

In 2014, the partners decided to focus on their first love and sell the Continental. "We love wine. Alain is a sommelier, we have our vineyard and we also have a wine import agency, Plan Vin," says Laurent. "So it all connected, and we made it so that the wine bar was the ultimate goal." In March 2015, they opened Rouge Gorge in the heart of Plateau Mont-Royal.
