Magnolia started the cupcake craze, and Dominique Ansel upped the ante with the cronut; will Montrealer Juliano Ciccocioppo do the same with the doughnut? All eyes are on the humble pastry, which in recent years has been dressed up in different ways and re-popularized throughout the city’s cafés and foodie hotspots. “Doughnuts have been one of my favourite treats ever since I was a child. So my goal is to make Trou de beigne the Saint-Viateur Bagel of doughnuts, its artisanal incarnation," explains Juliano.

The famous bagel shop’s reputation was not built overnight, so Juliano spares no effort creating new flavours and ever-more surprising doughnuts in the hopes of his own business earning the same monumental status.

“Our most popular doughnut is without a doubt our maple bacon flavour. It’s a plain doughnut with maple icing, topped with a slice of bacon fried in maple syrup – simply sinful! The Blizzard is also quite popular: it’s a chocolate doughnut coated in Lindt white chocolate and Oreo,” he explains, proof of Trou de beigne's unbridled creativity.

    Sélection limitée...

Sélection limitée de beignes, mais la qualité de la pâte du beignet est intéressante et délicieuse. Le format "Scout" est idéal pour les dégustations.

Doughnuts are taken to a whole other level at this Little Italy shop. The menu includes freshly baked delicacies like Pineapple and Coconut, S’Mores, and Cookie Dough. You can also choose from a variety of vegan-friendly doughnuts. Recommendation: Give the Peché Mortel doughnut a try. Made with beer, coffee glaze, roasted hazelnuts and dark chocolate, you’ve definitely never tasted anything like it!

The only part of your being that will not enjoy the doughnuts at Trou de Beignes is your waistline. All the doughnuts are fresh, doughy, and not overly sweet. One of their most popular doughnuts is the maple bacon, topped with maple syrup and bacon bits. It will definitely put you in the mood for sugaring off. All doughnuts can be ordered and delivered to your home or office.
