Traditional old-world charm fills the air at Continental Treat Fine Bistro on Whyte Avenue. Family-run since 1982 by the Borówka family, this welcoming spot consistently provides Edmonton’s diners with high quality traditional European fare and great service. “We really try to give great service,” says Sylvester Borówka, who co-owns Continental Treat Fine Bistro with his parents Ryszard and Helena Borówka. “Through the years we have created what I call loyalists. These are customers who prefer to come to our restaurant over anywhere else and now their children and even their grandchildren are coming in.”
Sylvester says the family has worked hard to build their reputation. They started with a humble seven-table restaurant, but in just five years were able to expand. “I’m proud of our restaurant,” says Sylvester. “We always want our guests to feel welcome and to enjoy their meals.”

The place looked high end from the inside and it's located in the heart of Edmonton, The beer list is expansive, The selection was great and included a number of beers I had not come across before.It can undoubtedly compared to sherbook liquor store.

For the appetizer I tried the Chicken Stroganoff stuffed with cheese, it was tasty, but nothing special to it. On the other hand, the Chicken, Shrimp and Rice was amazing.Cooked perfectly so that it does not feel like you are chewing a rubber band. All in all, the food is simply prepared but delicious, the waitstaff is amazing.

Continental Treat has become my go-to place. The meal was fabulous as always, I even tried a different soup based on a recommendation of the server. YUMMY! I highly recommend getting yourself a loaf of a break when you leave to take home as it is the best gluten-free bread I have been able to find in the city and I have been a celiac for almost 20 years. As we were leaving we were curious about the wedding photos by the entrance. Our server took the time to not only tell us the story behind the pictured but grabbed another server that told us all the names in the pictures. In the midst of these negative Covid times, this night out was a shining light!

The Staff was a bit long in getting to our table but not overly so, the food however was perfection. My lamb was perfectly done and the staff did exceptionally well accommodating our food allergies. All in all it was a five star experience.

After being seated we waited to be served a little longer than we should have our soups arrived two of the three were cold but our wait staff did not come and check on us for nine minutes so I went and got her to reheat the soup, the escargot made it after the soup unfortunately, we were given apology after apology this is the second time In the past year that we have gone to Continental Treat and had to send soup back with OK Service I I don’t know what happened to the experience staff??

A Whyte Avenue staple and hotspot, the Continental Treat is an Edmonton favourite. This eastern European restaurant serves the best dill pickle soup in town, not to mention killer schnitzel, filet mignon with various sauces, stroganoff and, of course, slowly roasted duck legs with a pinot noir demi-glace accompanied by kopytka (potato dumplings) and hot red cabbage.
