The restaurant features market fresh oysters from our two biggest suppliers–the Atlantic & Pacific Oceans, as well as the areas best selection of fresh fish & fine shellfish. Our steaks are hand cut from fresh Canadian AAA aged beef and grilled over a natural hardwood fire.
Excellent food and service. We were there to celebrate a birthday, didn't tell anyone that, must've overheard a cheers and at the end of dinner dessert with a sparkler was served. very thoughtful. Roasted root veg was very big hit with all of us.
They have raised their prices considerably. When asked about the new menu the waitress had a huge attitude! Very rude server .Reasonably good food which was always expensive now, way overpriced. Appetizers are poor in size and extremely expensive.
My original interest in Jakes was the oysters and appetizers, plus they have a happy hour for them. But when we finally went it was too late for this, so we went for dinner. After reading all these great reviews I'll have to go back sometime.
We started our evening being seated in the noisiest dining room ever with the worst accoustics ever. It seemed the room was filled with yelling customers. Just as we were about to leave we saw the patio, and the greeter, who was great, saw us out there to a table. It's very nice out there. Then we were met by a lovely waitress, new to Jakes, but ready with all the answers and able to get the info if it wasn't at her fingertips, and very, very pleasant and efficient.
Our meals were merely adequate after first tasting 4 different kinds of oysters, which were delicious, as we really love fresh oysters with lemon. I had the rare tuna and she had the tilapia oscar. Her fish was very overcooked but her crab was tasty. The hollandaise tasted like cheese sauce. My tuna looked cooked to perfection but seemed very bland. It really needed the ginger to help bring out the flavour of the fish. We both had the garlic mashed potatoes which were very good. Oh, the waitress overheard it was my birthday and brought a complimentary dessert, which was also very good.
All told we thought we probably won't be back but we may need to try the different seafood apps as a meal next time. Or perhaps I drop in with the guys after golf.
Best seafood chowder on the planet , replete with chunks of fish stuff in a creamy New England sauce.
Sirloin steak, perfectly grilled.
Reasonable prices.
Pleasant staff.
A shady, outdoor patio area.

We go to Jake's regularly - in the summertime, i thoroughly enjoy the back patio...which i think has been a kept secret for years! I have tried everything on the menu at some point so when i go there it is very difficult to choose.
This time around, we did the appetizers thing and i had a dinner salad - thank god as i was so full! If you like crab go for the crab stuffed wontons and cajun calamari! Service is always good, people are friendly - definitely worth checking out for those of you who are curious!
Food outstanding as usual!
Hard to comment on Atmosphere, since it's only 10 people in bar area.

Love Jakes, the Staff and the food. Obviously Red Zone has definitely limited all restaurant experiences in Burlington. So it’s just nice to be able to support one of the City’s favourite places.

They did the best they could with the patio extension under the tent. We are happy they have this. It is great, warm, but functional. Food was excellent as always. Service was fine. Waitress spent an exceptional amount of time socializing with one table. Kudos to her for being so patient with a person who wanted attention, but frustrating to others who were looking to order, or pay.

Service and food was great. I asked for patio seating. Realized that they have created much more room for their tables. The patio is just another room. I felt very safe. Everything was to code for safety regarding Covid-19. I would be very comfortable in the restaurant. The patio isn’t really a patio. Loved the experience.

Only negative, is we were asked to text our names to the number provided on the sheet handed out to all patrons for covid tracing. I dont have a cell plan that includes international texting so I asked our server if this was a Canadian TN number (585 326 1159), which she replied yes. Therefore, I sent a text to the number. This turned out to be untrue and I was charged by my service provider a surcharge for texting to an international text message. Very disappointment.

Above and beyond as always :) me and my girlfriend celebrated our anniversary here and it was a winner. Appetizers and steaks were amazing! The waitress was great as well. My only feedback advice would be the 1/2 king crab, it was 30$ I got only one leg. :p lol

They are very attentive to the Covid concerns. Their heated outdoor "tent", which is where we sat, is a great way to provide comfortable and safe dining even in the cooler weather. The food selection is varied and the food itself is delicious! The service is just right!

Overall experience was good for our first visit. I had the Halibut and chips, both fish and chips very greasy. Not a fan of the rectangle plate it is served on because as you cut into your fish the fries fall off your plate. Sticky Toffee Cake is so yummy! Definitely worth getting!

Lovely time had! Great food that’s priced fairly for what you get, with friendly and efficient service. The tent they have set up to assist with those who don’t feel comfortable eating indoors is inviting and warm. A light jacket is needed for night visits. We’ll be back!
