Dined here yesterday for dinner - the atmosphere was very trendy, gave off a cottage/winter vibe. The menu is simply outstanding, lots of delicious choices to choose from. We opted for wild boar spring rolls, bread + duck confit for our appetizers. Absolutely delicious. For the mains we tried the Game Burger with fries, Roasted Duck and Eggplant puree, and the Wild Mushroom rissotto. The burger was the best pick, not as gamy as we thought it might be, the duck egg aioli was the perfect touch.

I wrote a review in October 17 (Kerri) after having a near miss allergy experience. I would like to append this review. I just got off the phone with a representative from Antler who called me to discuss the incident & make sure I was ok. He interrogated the staff to figure out what went wrong - they already had an allergy protocol in place and he figured out what went wrong and has modified the policy to ensure the safety of their allergic patrons. I am considering giving Antler another chance!

timely, friendly, amazing food. made the reservation after a recommendation from a friend, did not disappoint. table for 2 was a bit small, but the server acknowledged that and made amendments to service. location is about 20 minutes from downtown - we took a cab to get there and would have been lost if we drove ourselves - even though we are familiar with toronto.

Sat at the "chefs table" which was interesting but uneventful. Started with venison tartar that was delicious but minimal (not enough to share), and expensive for the portion. Bison steaks hi lite of the night. Brioche sandwich desert disappointing, the brioche was dry and we left most of the desert on the plate. Waiter didnt ask why.

For the mains we tried the Game Burger with fries, Roasted Duck and Eggplant puree, and the Wild Mushroom risotto. The burger was the best pick, not as gamy as we thought it might be, the duck egg aioli was the perfect touch. Roasted duck was cooked perfectly; I wasn't a fan of the eggplant puree, tasted a bit sour and didn't go very well with the fattiness of the duck, but that's just me. Risotto was simply delicious - not too salty, rice cooked well. For dessert, the smoked mousse is a must! It's theatrical and the mousse and cracker really absorb the smokiness. Our bartender/server Andrew was very good - very customer focused, nice, funny. My only complaint was the wait for the mains. We sat at 6:30, ordered at 6:45, mains didn't come out until 8:30 and on top of that we saw not one, not two, but five other tables who'd come in after us receive their mains first. I'm not sure what went wrong here but we weren't too happy about that. The restaurant did apologize and provided some complimentary desserts so that made us feel a bit better :) Overall, this restaurant lives up to its reputation on the web. I'm planning on going back to try the rest of the menu - I just hope we won't be waiting too long this time!

I have nothing but good things to say about our experience at Antler. The restaurant itself is cozy and intimate, and the staff was beyond wonderful, both the kitchen and the waitstaff were super accommodating to my allergies, and considering how difficult it usually is for me to dine out, I am beyond thankful for the lovely experience they provided!! The food was absolutely amazing! I had heard such wonderful things but nothing I can say will honestly do it justice, you just have to try it for yourself. It was our first time and the server was very informative and no one with our table left with a single complaint. I'd even go so far too say it's the best food I've ever had. I will probably be coming back more frequently then my wallet would like but I know it will be worth every penny!

Great experience. Knowledgeable staff. Solid wine list by the glass Menu is very innovative and food is outstanding The only challenge is it seems there’s a 2 hour limit. We ended up being pushed out about 30 minutes earlier than we would have liked I would recommend

We had the most amazing dinner at Antler on Friday night! We needed up at the Chef’s table. What an incredible experience to see them work. Service was excellent and the food perfect. We even tried to book a table for next time on the spot. Can’t wait to come back!

Restaurant was very cute with good food, but we got placed at a table right beside the door (which was freezing). Table probably shouldn't be put there as I don't know who would agree to having a meal in the cold! We sat at the bar which was okay, but really wished we had a real table as I had made the reservations one month in advance...

Everything about this experience was absolutely phenomenal, which feels great to say, because I had set my expectations fairly high. My girlfriend and I were more than pleased, we were blown away. The only qualm I would have, would be the fruit flies that were a slight nuisance, but that’s if I’m being picky. All the staff present, went above and beyond to make every aspect of our night truly amazing. A great thanks and commendation to everyone involved in making it such a top notch experience. Cheers.

With a last name like Hunter, it seems as though owner and chef Michael Hunter was destined to open Antler. The restaurant celebrates regional ingredients, which are present all throughout the seasonal menu, and they even make an appearance in the cocktails, which are made with Antler’s own natural infusions and syrups. With freshly foraged ingredients in hand, Hunter aims to define Canadian cuisine at Antler.

Jamaican venison patty: It may look like a snack food, but it's as important as any expert entree. Slipped into a white paper sleeve with the Antler logo stamped on the front (nice touch), it’s the best version of any meat patty I can recall. The house made dough is so fine it's almost translucent, making it easy to see the mound of ground meat within with as much flavour as a well-simmered stew. And the delicately spicy dipping sauce with scotch bonnet is not blow-your-head-off hot thanks to being blended mostly with red peppers. Make no mistake: this is not the meat patty you're used to seeing under a heat lamp at the corner convenience store.

One of the most recent openings, Antler has illustrated that game doesn’t have to be heavy or gamey or boring. This is your chance to dig into rabbit, deer, bison, boar and venison, all done with elegance and refinement. Swoon.
