A truly exceptional meal. We had an amazingly diverse 5 course tasting menu for 4, and two of us had wine pairings. The staff was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. Will be back often.

Surprise Surprise !!, Doesn't look like much but glad we went. Not a place I would have chosen on my own, recommended by friend. Took 3 clients. Raves all around. Food is the highlight. Looks like it is more suited to the summer scene with outdoor patio in front. The Ivory Salmon fantastic, Desert extraordinary.

One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The service and atmosphere were excellent. The food was out of this world. Every one of the seven courses we had was perfect. Very highly recommend!!

Bookenda offers 5 stars as the maximum. I say there are not enough stars in the universe to confer on my meal at Edulis!!! It began with the Joselito Gran Reserva Jamon slices ... literally the best jamon I have ever tasted ... and then just kept on getting better and better. Thank you, Michael and Tobey, and staff, for having such impossibly high standards, and then making sure they are actually fulfilled in reality.

the experience was outstanding. the food was fantastic. the only reason why i didn't give it a 5 star rating is because some of the 7 courses were a bit pretentious. it was clear the chef was preparing an extravagant and amazing plate but doing so for himself. it was delicious nevertheless. my favorite was the tuna and the incredible dessert.

Sunday lunch was a ten course affair if one did not partake in the optional caviar, truffles and foie gras or cheese courses. As always, the ever changing menu has something on it we have never had before as the owners procure the freshest seasonal ingredients available to be part of the menu mixed with exotic imported fish, Big-Eye Tuna and Portuguese Bonito on this particular menu. Chilled pea soup was "the best soup ever" for my wife. Halloumi cheese with toasted seed tabbouleh, fresh squashes and their flowers, fresh yellow beans with seaweed. Imaginative combinations require experienced hands to keep coming out right and the team at Edulis delivers. Desert was blueberry cake with sweet corn sorbet (divine for us who usually skip desert most anywhere else) and coffee is as good as it gets. Intimate atmosphere, informal but efficient service, a glance at the wait staff gets immediate attention. For a restaurant so highly rated by critics, one need not be afraid of any snooty attitude at Edulis. Lunch takes two and a half hours or so, so not for those in a rush. We always feel like we get transported to 'our happy place' whenever we go there, to be spoiled and feel relaxed. Tobey, Michael and team just keep making it better.

I have a long list of restaurants that I have been desperate to go to and this one was at the top of the list. It exceeded my expectations! From walking in to the nice cozy restaurant atmosphere to the service which was outstanding - very knowledgeable on the courses. Lastly of course the food - incredible! We opted for the larger 7 course and boy was it worth it!! The majority of the dishes were fish based which I was very happy with, but the textures and flavours in the dishes were just outstanding. Can't wait to go back :) Thank you Tobey!!

I always feel transported the moment I walk in the door. The ambiance has been as thoughtfully crafted as the wonderful food. From the candles, the checked napkins, the hand painted tiles and the wonderful copper coffee maker, the entire restaurant feels like a cozy inn in a small village in France. The service is impeccable. Professional, courteous and helpful. Our table had the 7 course meal and everything was heavenly. Beautiful ingredients assembled with love and creativity. Our favourite dish on this particular visit was the lobster poached in its own roe with a delicious sauce made with almonds along with the sweetest summer tomatoes. One of the best things I have ever eaten. This is the most special restaurant in Toronto.

I couldn't say enough about the food and presentation. Every dish was well balanced, well-prepared and fresh. Part of the enjoyment of the meal was the element of surprise since there wasn't a menu. Since the tables are so close together, that element of surprise was easily lost if you noticed what the person sitting 2" away from you had just been served. My biggest complaint is that we went out to dinner to spend quality time together but felt like we had to converse with our neighbors since they were way too close to ignore!

My girlfriend and I took a small 2 night getaway to Toronto, where we met 5 years ago. Having recently had a baby, the trip was a big deal as it was the first time we have taken a small excursion to ourselves. #1 item on our TO to-do list: dinner at Edulis! We are not newcomers to Edulis. One of our first dates 5 years ago was to what is now one of our favorite restaurants in the world. The place is special to us for many reasons, which keeps us coming back (when we can, as we are now out of province). Our dinner experience was exceptional. I am not going to go into detail about the specific plates (we opted for a 5 course option). Rather, I am going to focus on the total experience over the course of our 5 years. Edulis is the only restaurant where I have experienced an outdoing of the previous times we have come here. There is a passion in the quality & preparation of the meals that is unrivalled in all of my experience. There is a consistency and attention to detail that is difficult to find. The staff is well educated on the selections, and we are delighted to see, even after 5 years, some familiar faces when we walk through the door (another rarity in restaurants). I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. If you want to impress a date, treat a partner, or simply experience true culinary brilliance in a romantic setting, reserve at Edulis!

I'm replying to the question, "How was Edulis?". It was perfection. There is the concept of perfection ... and then there is the experience of perfection. One involves the mind, the other involves the senses. In regards to Edulis, I would have to invent another category ... a perfection that involves the mind, the senses, and the spirit ... one that involves the whole of one's being. Maybe it could be called the heart of perfection. Words are completely inadequate, but I hope you have the flavor of what it was like for me.

The service, food, wine selection and service is exceptional at this place. A true Toronto gem I believe everyone should experience in their life. And you'll never have the same experience twice as is up to the chef what the menu of the day is. Very fun.

Toronto's coziest restaurants and bars

Looking for the coziest prix-fixe dinner in town? You’ll find it in the modern, French-inspired fare served at this impossibly charming bistro. Nestled in Trinity Niagara, the so-quaint-so-compact Edulis is a definite departure from the sprawling King West spots that surround it. The menu changes daily – but it has hosted everything from quail to truffled cheese to mushroom and cider gratin – and has been heralded as some of the top cuisine in the city. As you might imagine, it makes a pricey-but-worth-it spot for a winter-time special occasion.

Put your hunger in the innovative hands of this King and Niagara bistro and it is impossible to be disappointed. Serving small (5-course) and large (7-course) carte blanche dining, the tiny, low-lit, and generally charm-the-pants-off-of-ya restaurant hosts a Canadian-style menu that changes daily, but centres around seasonal ingredients, particularly seafood and locally sourced produce. Also home to one of the most stellar wine lists in the city. Stop thinking, just go.
