Best place to take a Aussie friend for lunch. The service, the food, the beer was PERFECTO. Our server Carmen made it even more special.

Octoberfest meal served cold. Flatbread buried in BBQ sauce. The worst $20 burger ever serveD, dry and tasteless; thank g-d for mustard. The only pub in the Distillery serves food bordering on disgusting.

Food wasn't too good. Asked for the soup for the kid - and it was very spicy. Tomatoes in the salad were not ripe. Chicken wings were not too good either. Cannot complain about nachos and the beer though.

This was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. We have enjoyed taking visiting friends to the brew house restaurant many times and having booked a reservation, I expected to have a nice table to experience the ambiance we have enjoyed in the past. This website does not distinguish between the ‘brew house’ and the ‘brew hall’. Upon arrival at the restaurant, there was a line up waiting for a table and I was told that my reservation was in the ‘brew hall’. I said that I had reserved the brew house but was denied a table there and was sent next door to the brew hall. I told the hostess that I had not booked the brew hall, but the brew house. She said that my reservation said brew hall and would not give me a table. Upon going next door to the brew hall, there was no one at the desk to check in. I had to walk through the restaurant with my four guests looking for someone to ask about getting a table. I had to go outside into the courtyard taking our 4 friends from Germany with me,where there was a hostess desk and asked about my reservation. She went away to check and then came back and took us to the worst table in the restaurant. The restaurant had several tables around us that were not cleared yet and a section beyond ours that was full of empty tables . Our table was up against a large cement pillar and I was facing a wall with the server station desk and computer. I assumed that the nicer tables had also been reserved and said nothing. When our food arrived, my poutine was cold, no cheese melted. I asked the others how theirs was and 3 out of 5 were also cold. I have never complained in a restaurant before, but at this point, I was so disappointed that I asked to speak with the manager. I told him that first if all, my reservation was for the brew house and my disappointment with all of the above. He told me that our table was one of the most requested which is ridiculous and I asked him if he would enjoy sitting against a large cement pillar with a view of a wall with a server station and told him that I had brought 4 friends from Germany because we had always enjoyed our experience at the brew house for the ambiance. He asked me in a very condescending manner to pick whatever table in the restaurant I would like. We chose a table beside the window looking out into the courtyard. We had to pick up our water glasses and food to move them(as new glasses were not provided and they all got mixed up) Our server took our food back to the kitchen and returned about five minutes later to ask the one guest how she would prefer her eggs. He did not give her a choice the first time she ordered. Our food arrived about 10 minutes later not much hotter than the first time (I had specifically asked for the cheese to be melted)and of course the other two guests had by that time finished their meal. One of those guests decided to order poutine as he was still hungry and it took more than 20 minutes before the server arrived to apologize that it was taking so long and that it would be another few minutes and would he prefer to have his order packaged to go. He also informed me that we would not be charged for that order and for 2 of the orders that had to be reheated. The manager never returned to follow up on whether or not we were satisfied with our table choice or food service. In the future, we will be dining at a different restaurant in the Distillery District when bringing visiting friends there ,as we will not risk another embarrassing experience like this one. I would strongly suggest that Bookenda changes the reservation page to distinguish between the ‘brew house’ and ‘brew hall’ so there is no confusion and so that others will not have to be disappointed as I was.

Manager was awesome. Super diligent for short notice and specifics to be on the patio for such a large group.

Atmosphere: Great space, however having 2 restaurants next to each other is very confusing – one accepts reservations while the other hall doesn't? Everyone in my party including me walked into the wrong venue. Service: There were 11 of us in total and we all got our drinks and food at random and delayed times. There was a long and awkward waiting period while our food got cold for other's meals to arrive at the table – it was quite disappointing. Also, my drink took longer to come to the table than my actual meal. Timing can be improved. Overall service was slow and sporadic. Food: Ordered a Boodha Bowl with crab cakes. Definitely overpriced for the amount of food that was actually served. But, it was delicious and quite fresh. The tofu cubes were flavourless – they need more seasoning. The crab cakes were amazing and full of real crab meat, but the bottom was a bit soggy, while the top was crispy.

Our server seemed extremely busy but she was also extremely attentive, so we were pretty impressed. The kitchen blew two of our six dishes and she was able to get them corrected in just a few minutes. We sat on the patio - cushioned chairs are comfy but the table is too low to get your legs under which makes it awkward to eat.

The atmosphere is really nice. However, when my friend asked if it would be possible to do a Caesar with tomato juice instead that was not an option. No big deal. Then my 2 friends who are vegetarian asked to replace meat (ie: a breakfast sausage) with tomato or anything else they could offer the server told them they don’t do that (there’s no mention of this on the website or menu we could find). One friend asked to get the breakfast perogies (listed as cheese perogies on the menu) and eggs but just omit the sausage that came with it the server said the menu is out of date and the sausage is in the perogies. Never once offered to ask the kitchen or any other accommodations for them so they both got the one veggie option. The Shakshuka. One of their eggs arrived severely undercooked and I had the same experience with severely under poached eggs on my eggs Benedict. To the point I didn’t eat one of them. Also my pea meal bacon wasn’t warm let alone hot. The server never came around to ask how food was or refill drinks. We paid, left, and won’t be back. Overpriced food, terrible service, underwhelming and literally undercooked food. I feel I should note all three of us have been servers and would normally never complain or cause a fuss.

I was surprised how many things this restaurant was out of. Out of many Kombucha’s offered on the menu, they had none. We were given two alcoholic alternatives to order then it turned out they were also out of those. Then we ordered Cider but they were out of the kind we ordered! My mother ordered decaf coffee- out, then ordered decaf tea - out, then was told they had camomile and they turned out to be out of that as well. The only food that was good were the appetizers. The mains were all sub par and slightly cold. We ordered a variety of desserts and while the apple pies were good, my husband ordered a ice cream sundae and it when it came it was only ice cream with a cherry on top. It was supposed to have chocolate sauce and nuts. Overall the food was expensive and bad, very dissatisfied as it was supposed to be a birthday party.

We were early for our reservation but they got our table for us. After sitting 10 minutes our waiter finally arrived and said he hadn't seen us as we were behind a pole. Drinks were excrutiatingly slow. I asked for a sample and 15 minutes later our waiter came back to say they were out of that. He suggested a sample of something else, which I agreed to, and that was faster. However, he didn't come back for a long time. I ordered that beer, but it didn't arrive until we were half done with our food. Food was fine. Atmosphere fun, but loud. Overall our most disappointing and underwhelming meal of a long weekend. There are many other great places to go in the future instead of here.

DELICIOUS food: Fish & Chips, Steak Cobb Salad, Smoked Brisket Poutine, and Chicken Club sandwich were GREAT. Chicken Schnitzel tasted great but was overcooked to the point I could not cut it with my knife. Unfortunately, our server must have been brand new. It took 30 minutes after being seated to get all our drinks. When asked what bourbons they had he didn't know and asked what kind we wanted. We said that depended on what was available. He left for 5-10 minutes and then said that the bartender told him they "had all kinds, pretty much anything you want. What do you like?" Realizing we weren't getting anywhere, we had to walk to the bar to speak directly to the bartender. Once we got our food, we did not see the server again. After 30 minutes I went looking for the manager. She was very apologetic and wound up comping us the drinks without us even asking.

Hi Mill Street Beer Hall, Thank you for the exceptional brunch meals and friendly service yesterday morning. Everything was fantastic and we have zero complaints. I will certainly be coming back and recommending your establishment. You all deserve compliments for the 3 metrics that I look for when dining out in any setting: Price point, service, and portion size. I hope you continue with the early bird brunch special for early risers like myself who prefer to beat the rush. Cheers.

My experience started off pretty terrible. I made reservations for a brewery tour and dinner for 6. They cancelled tours that day for a corporate event. Didn’t call me and tell me, because the employee who I spoke with didn’t my the brewery tour. We spoke with the manager and they advised us they would work something out. They did! We had a tour done by an employee who generously stayed after they had clocked out. They worked out everything perfect, down to the timing of our entrees with the tour. We had a fabulous night and the food was FANTASTIC!! Thank you again. We will be back.
