Meet the owner

Kitty corner to Mont-Royal metro, in one of the trendiest of Montreal areas, Les Folies opened in the year 2000. It was a quick hit with young crowds who came for the live music, youthful vibe and artistic menu. Now it’s somewhat of a neighbourhood landmark that the '20s to '40s frequent to sit for a drink, chill with friends or even get a bit of work done.

Les Folies changed hands a couple of times over the years until it was scooped up by its current owners in 2011, three long-time staff members who’d been aching to make it their own. After a combined 22 years on staff here, Samuel Perreault, Jimmy Ledoux and Aziz Ouaamar had fallen for the place with its '50s diner look, ideal Plateau location and artistic feel.

Not long after its opening, Samuel was completing a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science by day and DJing at Les Folies at night. “I wasn’t very good, and I wasn’t paid much, but I was getting practice,” he says. To earn extra money on the side, he decided to try his hand at serving and bartending, and soon was practically a part of the decor. Just a few years later, Jimmy joined the team, and the two quickly become close friends. Jimmy had worked on the restaurant scene since his teenage years, and dreamed of having his own place. In 2011, he got his chance, right when Samuel was looking for a new direction in life. The owners of Les Folies wanted to pursue other business ventures, and when they put it up for sale, Samuel, Jimmy and Aziz, who'd been the head chef since 2005, made it theirs.

    Découverte

Une découverte sur Mont Royal! La Sangria est excellente, le pichet de Mojito trop gros! Les nachos sont aussi très bons!
