Un restaurant pionnier en termes de vins natures à Montréal, avec un beau menu saisonnier qui change selon la disponiblité des produits locaux. Service excellent dans une belle atmosphère décontractée! Un incontournable!

Meeting Expectations

Tonight we decided to venture outside of our downtown/Old Montreal comfort area and head out to chef Martin Juneau's latest venture, Pastaga, which opened last year on a (previously) forgotten stretch of Saint Laurent in Rosemont/La Petite Patrie. Pastaga's interior is very reminiscent of a wine bar, especially with its unusual L-shaped tables. The menu, which is heavy on local ingredients, has no starters or main dishes. It rather contains a single size of moderately-priced dishes (around $15 each), so one can build their own meal (a great idea for sharing). We were very pleased with the service tonight. It was on the warm and casual side (our waiter was wearing a Cleveland Indians baseball cap), not what you normally expect at a place serving food of this caliber, let alone French food. With its cozy decor, friendly service and great food, Pastaga is a nice place for a fine dining experience or to enjoy a few glasses of wine from their natural wine list. Unfortunately we found portions to be on the smaller side, so we ended up grabbing a couple falafel sandwiches after.

In general the place decor wise is quite nice but it was basically empty which took away from the atmosphere big time for our visit. That doesn't mean there is something wrong with the restaurant necessarily, unless you have a lot of nights where its not too full. Servers were very nice and gave us a lot of information that we wanted but they were a little bit laid back and slow to come around to check on us. We had to wait several times to get some service for things we needed - it would help if the people were sharper and a bit more attentive. Food was fantastic! zero complaints, you really know you've found a great restaurant when every dish including dessert is very good. We would certainly come back for the sake of the food but another experience where the restaurant might be quite empty would probably compel us not to return a third time.

The food was amazing! The chef knows how to balance all the tastes in each dish. The 4 courses menu with wine pairing is absolutely fantastic. Finally the service was friendly and very professional. We had a great time, will come back again and recommend!

Mr. Hy was our host and server Friday night. This was our fourth trip to pastaga and he has been there for us each time. Love his attentiveness and charm. This person has many qualities which we admire, and is half the reason we keep coming back. Theother half is the food. Best and most consistent place in city!

We understand that during MTLaTable: 1. there is only 1,5 hours to spend in the restaurant, 2. Food portions can be smaller. But we think food portions were too small, risotto was overcooked, and we were almost pushed to leave right on time. Finally, chef's table, right in the middle of the kitchen, is too noisy, we didn't like it. Dessert was good.

Booked for 9 pm. Required credit card for reservations, but had to wait til 930 for a table standing at bar getting knocked into by waiters. Food was adequate although interesting menu. We were scouting out locations to bring clients in the future. Not impressed Fine for an average weekenigjt dinner but wouldn’t book for anything special. Wait staff friendly but not skilled in the nuisance of great service. Surrounding neighbourhood dead on a Saturday night. Not a great vibe. Stay closer to downtown for a better night out experience. Did not accept Amex for payment although took it for reservation deposit.

Went for Valentine’s Day there was a set menu so we couldn’t really chose what to eat.. service was ok nothing extra and the ambiance was fine . Was surprised by where the “chef’s table” was located ... INSIDE the kitchen !!!!
