Our experience during MTL Restaurant Week exceeded our expectations. Both our dinners were perfect, and the wait staff friendly and informative. We look forward to returning.

Michael was an excellent server along with the rest of his staff! We chose this place so we could try elk. We had the trio with buffalo, deer, and elk. It was served on an asparagus spear, squash, and what I think may have been new potatoes. Different types of bread are served with the meal with olive oil to dip in. We finished out the meal with a cream puff with ice cream and dark chocolate syrup. The presentation was award worthy! This was our first meal in Montreal and it raised the standard for the rest of the weekend. I recommend this place!

Our server was great, when asked to recommend a wine to go with both a red meat heavy and poultry centered dinner given my lack of knowledge of Portuguese wines he selected a near perfect match for both. I should note that I am quite familiar with French wines and they have a great selection but the Portuguese wine list is also quite extensive.

Food - great. Atmosphere was stuffy and unwelcoming. Given the ideal location of the restaurant, this business should be booming. However; it is clear that no attempts have been made to modernize or diversify. French cuisine will always retain a sense of formalism. Yet - formalism should not exclude warmth. The best French restaurants make you feel like you have been welcomed into someone’s home.

We had the three meat combination Elk, Buffalo and Deer , we ordered it medium rare but the food came out well done and chewy and the three individual sauses were difficult to distinguish.

The elk tournedos with blueberry port sauce was divine. The pears in wine, port, and cinnamon were delightful for dessert.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We both had the venison in red wine sauce which was delicious. Desert as also delicious. This is my second time at La Sauvagine and it was terrific. Will be back next time I am in Montreal without hesitation. They offered us a glass of port for our anniversary which we unfortunately declined because we are both not red wine drinkers but greatly appreciated the gesture!
