Les Enfants Terribles is first and foremost a family affair. It all began in 2008 when Francine Brûlé, after a long career in the world of fashion, fell in love with a 100-seat restaurant for sale on Bernard Avenue. "I knew absolutely nothing about the restaurant business," recalls the businesswoman, who was unknowingly about to kickoff a great adventure that would lead her to become the owner of three restaurants in Montreal.
Her youngest son came up with the idea of the restaurant's name shortly before the opening, while the family was vacationing in Mexico. "The guys went out for New Year's Eve, and my youngest didn't come back until the next afternoon," explains Francine. "While I was giving him a sermon, he suggested that I should name my restaurant Les Enfants Terribles in honour of him and his two brothers. Not only did I say yes, but I promised him that I would put their faces everywhere!"
Francine kept her promise. You can see large pictures of the now famous enfants terribles on the walls of the restaurant.
I mean, what can be wrong here? Great food, a vast wine selection, and the service was friendly and attentive.
In the summer, the large terrasse is so lovely- albeit cramped, but still lovely & vibrant.
A great place to go with friends or just for a nice tête à tête over a glass of wine!
Une des plus agréables terrasses d'Outremont dans l'ancien local du Vasco de Gamma. Une bonne cuisine à prix abordable et un service convivial. L'ambiance est jeune et donne le goût d'allonger le souper et profiter de la terrase et des desserts. Je recommande à tous !
What I like most about this restaurant is the atmosphere, which is lively because there are always many people there. I especially enjoy sitting at a table outside during the summer months. The menu has a good selection of dishes and the food is always tasty. The service, however, could be a bit better and faster.
Salmon tartare was delicious! Well spiced. The beet salad was truly fresh tasting .. the atmosphere on Bernard street open terraces and live DJ was simply the icing on the cake .. nice vibe.

This was my first indoor visit to this wonderful resto. Have always enjoyed sitting on the lovely terrasse during the summer season which, of course is always preferable. That's the only reason for a 4* Atmosphere review. Otherwise, the service and food was excellent. Wish I could remember our server's name because he was friendly, helpful and attentive. I do remember that, when asked, he told us his background was Polish. As always, my companion and I had a lovely time.

A promising restaurant that under delivers.
We had salmon, poutine and bass. The food was average at best, especially the poutine which was at the level of any low end snack bar. The salmon was ok, and the bass was boring. The waiter interrupted us whenever he visited the table and was too familiar. They don't spend on tablecloths but they charge you like they did. Nobody asked us if we liked our food afterward. It's basically a trendy, overly expensive restaurant.

As always, dining here is a real pleasure. All four of us felt that we had made a perfect choice and the service was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. One of us mentioned being cold (we were close to the door) and our server immediately brought her a blanket.
This is a superb restaurant in which we have never been disappointed.

Very disappointing food, and extremely expensive!
Too much baking soda in the batter of the fish and chips. Burnt French fries. Too small portion of mac and cheese. Very expensive house wine. Overall a very disappointing experience.

Very nice relaxed atmosphere. Service was slow but all staff was very friendly from manager to the hostess to waiters to buzz boys. Foord quality was good. Selection is somewhat limited. Overall nice but busy place.

The food and service were fantastic! I would highly recommend this restaurant for any group or occasion.
These “bad kids" on Bernard Avenue in Outremont are happy to offer one of Chef Simon Laborde’s creations: macaroni and cheese "augmenté" (a.k.a. taken to the next level). Their take on mac and cheese features cheddar, mozzarella, parmesan, kale and bacon. Yes, I want it.
