Bob le chef's top spots for game night in Montreal

Hockey, beer and food are three staples of the cold season. The much loved Bob le chef gives us his suggestions of places to go to enjoy a great game night.

Brasserie Cherrier

3638, rue Saint-Denis, Montréal, QC H2X 3L7

If you've studied at Quebec’s Institut de Tourisme et d'Hôtellerie, you've spent time at the Brasserie Cherrier. The pool table, cheap beer and eclectic clientele make this frozen-in-time establishment a go-to on game nights.

Pub L'Abreuvoir Inc

403, rue Ontario E, Montréal, QC H2L 1N5

Located near UQAM and CEGEP du Vieux-Montréal, the Abreuvoir's atmosphere is, how can we put it ... very noisy. A nice, good and cheap menu makes it easy to stick around for the entire game, and is the perfect accompaniment to your pitcher of beer.

Bar Chez Serge

4281 boul Saint-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2W 1Z4

Hockey fans, here is your Holy Grail (after the Stanley Cup, obviously). A noisy and fan-filled atmosphere, and people who celebrate by dancing on the bar and riding a mechanical bull make me say that you haven’t watched a hockey game if you haven't been to chez Serge. Go Habs Go!

Taverne St-Sacrement

775, av du Mont-Royal E, Montréal, QC H2J 1W8

If you like hockey and a friendly atmosphere, you will love St-Sacrement. It offers a great menu, including chicken wings sold by the kilo or half kilo, which are among the best when you want to mix the fun of watching a game and the pleasure of great food.

Le Pourvoyeur

184, rue Jean-Talon E, Montréal, QC H2R 1S7

Le Pourvoyeur is one of my favourites, and I come here on a regular basis. I love the menu, the team and especially the choice of gins and cocktails offered. Eating homemade mini-pogos and watching a Canadiens win – I can’t imagine a better scenario for a nice evening!

Bar Chez Normand

1509, av Dollard, Lasalle, QC H8N 1T3

The taverne Chez Normand has a well-established place in the hearts of CH fans. A frenzied atmosphere, cold beer and an entirely new menu make Chez Normand one of my favourite places to watch a game.

Barraca Rhumerie & Tapas

1134, av du Mont-Royal E, Montréal, QC H2J 1X8

Located in the heart of the Plateau, le Barraca offers a huge selection of rum and a simple yet effective tapas menu. It broadcasts games without the sound on, preferring the soundtrack laid down by the resident DJ's. This is the perfect place to bring a date and watch the game from the corner of your eye. ;)
