El Cortez Tequila Bar and Kitchen

El Cortez Tequila Bar and Kitchen is one of Whyte Avenue’s most popular and unique restaurants – every inch of this place screams Day of the Dead – each minute detail is completely intentional. People go for the fabulous tacos and tequila, but El Cortez also boasts Edmonton’s absolute best cauliflower dish. Valentina's fried cauliflower is crunchy, juicy and lightly breaded, making it crisply coated in a spicy, sweet and savoury sauce. Oh, this sauce, it’s so delicious and perfectly complemented by the delicious Aji aioli dip.

Another of Edmonton’s fantastic Mexican offerings, Rostizado is located in the heart of the Ice District, across the street from the new Roger’s Place arena. Infamous for their family style, Mexican rotisserie, Rostizado also serves up some fabulous roasted cauliflower pan roasted in pork fat, lime juice and cumin seeds, with chile de árbol, garlic and cilantro. Yum!

Giving El Cortez’s cauliflower dish a run for its money, Ampersand 27’s roasted cauliflower dish made the number four slot on The Tomato’s Top 100 Things to Eat in Edmonton. Given an Indian twist with a gorgeous presentation, Ampersand 27’s dish comes atop beluga lentils, raisins and hazelnuts, and is roasted in yogurt. Beautifully spiced with garam masala, this cauliflower is both crispy and soft and served with a tangy Romesco sauce.
