Edmonton is full of European restaurants that offer world-class cuisine in a lovely setting. These spots will satisfy your craving for everything from schnitzel to duck confit without you ever having to step foot on a plane.

La Boheme Restaurant-Bed & Breakfast

6427 112 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5W 0N9

This old-world French restaurant, located inside a bed and breakfast of the same name, serves up a variety of European delicacies. Whether you go for the table d’hote (a set menu with soup, choice of salad, sorbet, choice of entrée and choice of dessert) or the a la carte menu, you won’t leave hungry. True to French fashion, everything served here is all buttery and decadent, calories be damned. If you’ve always wondered what escargot taste like, now’s your chance to find out.

Continental Treat Fine Bistro Gluten Free

10560 82 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 2A4

This family-run restaurant has a European kitchen staff and focuses on cuisine from Hungary, Austria, Poland and Germany. They host special wine nights on occasion, pairing vino and live music with cheese and a four-course meal. In addition to their regular menu, they offer a gluten-free menu and a vegetarian menu. Popular appetizers include the wild mushroom and sauerkraut-stuffed pierogis, Courvoisier shrimp and pickle soup. Entrees range from Hungarian goulash to Munich-style pork chops to beef Stroganoff.

Accent Lounge

8223 104 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 4E7

This cute European lounge is always buzzing with electric conversations and laughter. The atmosphere is casual but the food is gourmet – their maple Dijon salmon, in particular, is absolutely delectable. On Mondays, stop by for their beer and a schnitzel night, when they pair craft beer with beef schnitzel. They are also known for their steak tartare, which is half price on Wednesdays. Prime picks for entrees include chicken schnitzel and rack of lamb.

Bistro Praha

10117 101 St NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 0T4

A former Czech citizen opened this cute spot in 1977 to fulfill his longing for a place where he could feel at home. My Polish esthetician swears by this restaurant – it’s the only place she will go for special occasions. She describes the rack of lamb with such loving detail that I can tell she has enjoyed it many, many times. Other bistro specialities include roasted goose or duck with sauerkraut and bread dumplings, and schnitzel Parizienne.

The Marc Restaurant

9940 106th Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2N2

This is European cuisine with a strong French influence. The room is beautiful and elegant, the service is precise and friendly, and the food is phenomenal. The steak frites is fantastic and the truffle aioli that accompanies it will make your mouth water. But it is the grilled bavette, served with wilted spinach and a spicy red pepper aioli, that truly wins my heart. If you’re not into beef, they also a lovely duck confit and a variety of interesting seafood dishes, including arctic char and seared scallops.

In April 2016, Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for the Best Pizza in the World: The Top 14 Cities for Pizza placed Edmonton at number eight on the list. With a diverse number of fantastic pizzas to choose from, including hand-tossed, wood-fired pies with white or red sauce and fun toppings ranging from pineapple to pine nuts, you're sure to find one you adore. Buon appetito!
