The Deane House was built in 1906 and has been the subject of several haunting rumours. Frightened folks have report experiencing the spirit of a man who died after being pushed down the stairs, while others say they have seen the ghost of a woman who jumped out of an upstairs window to her death.

Knox United Church

506-4th St SW, Calgary, AB T2P 1S7

Knox United Church is a favourite destination for local ghost enthusiasts. The Calgary Association of Paranormal Investigators has given the church the full Scooby-Doo treatment on a number of occasions. Locals report seeing a thin apparition walking through the front door, and people sometimes feel queasy when on the upper floor, among many other spooky experiences.

1240 8 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0M7

The Cross House is home to Rouge Restaurant, and was built by A.E. Cross, one of the founders of the world-famous Calgary Stampede. Visitors have reported seeing Mr. Cross’s wife Helen sitting by a window. So what? Well, Helen Cross died in 1959!

Hose and Hound Neighbourhood Pub

1030 9 Ave SE, Calgary, AB T2G 0S7

The Hose & Hound is an Inglewood pub that has a most unusual spirit as its resident haunter. Formerly a fire hall, it is purported to house the spirit of a monkey that was once the pet of the fire chief. Barney was put down after a violent episode, and is now blamed for a variety of noises and shenanigans around the popular redbrick watering hole.

Canmore Opera House

1900 Heritage Dr SW, Calgary, AB T2V 2X3

The Canmore Opera House was built in the late 19th century, and in classic haunted-house history fashion, was used as a makeshift morgue after the nearby Canmore mine collapsed, tragically killing about 700 miners. People have reported seeing ghosts in the audience, as well as hearing ghostly singing.

Rose & Crown Pub

1503 4 St SW, Calgary, AB T2R 0Y3

The Rose & Crown has a pretty traditional haunting history – it was once a funeral home, and operated as such until the 1980s. Spirits are sometimes seen by staff members, lights go on, and windows open on their own.

Cat 'N Fiddle Pub

540 16 Ave Nw, Calgary, AB T2M 0J4

The Cat n’ Fiddle is yet another haunted pub that was once a funeral home – I’m starting to see a pattern! Plenty of spirits have been sighted here, including the ethereal presence of an ex-mortician. Who knows who – or what – might join you for a beer!
