Holy comics, Batman! The best comic shops in Edmonton

Comics are a source of wonder, amazement and great storytelling (just ask Hollywood). But, like any good addiction, you need a good supplier. Good thing the Edmonton area has more great comic shops than Deadpool has chimichangas. [Image credit: iStock.com/Cristie Guevara]

We Have Issues Collectibles

1
108-150 Chippewa Rd, Sherwood Park, AB T8A 6A2

Sherwood Park’s best (and only locally-owned) comic shop may be a relatively new kid on the block, but you’d never guess it by the thousands of back issues adorning the walls. Of course, there’s more reading material than Professor X’s library and, if you pre-order it, you’ll even get a substantial discount. If you’re looking for a nerdy gift, We Have Issues has figurines, stickers, belt buckles — you name it. It’s worth the drive (or teleport, whatever).

Happy Harbor Comics

With great power comes great responsibility, and Happy Harbor knows it. As Edmonton’s flagship comic shop, its selection is nearly overwhelming, from back issues of runs you forgot existed to new trades you’ve never heard of. Whether you’re all about The Big Two (Marvel and DC) or searching for something new (like manga or indie comics), Happy Harbor has it. There’s even a section for the oft-overlooked young readers. As for the responsibility, from fundraisers to game nights, chances are you’ll visit on a day when a community event is happening.

Warp 1 Comics & Games

2
9917 82 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 1Z1

Don’t let the “and Games” in the title scare you away from getting your file from 99 street’s nerd haven (or its sister shops, Warp 2 and Warp 3). There are truckloads of comics, trades and swag to go with them. If you like a little Magic: The Gathering with your New Avengers, you can do plenty of playing and trading at any of the Warp locations.

Comic Fever

3
11338 132 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5E 1A1

From the friendly atmosphere to the great selection, Comic Fever defines “your friendly neighbourhood comic shop.” If you’ve got a fever and the only prescription is more comics (sorry), fill up your pull list at this north end gem. And, if you need to practice your hand-eye co-ordination, there’s no shortage of videogames.

Macbeth Comics & Collectibles

4
101-10715 124 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 0H2

There’s definitely a shortage of great comic shops on our city’s west end, but Macbeth happily picks up the slack. Set up like your dream basement and hosting more (and likely better) events, the shop immediately makes you feel like family. The abundance of comics is complemented by the cool-ass merch (The Walking Dead guitar?!). All hail Macbeth …

Getting gifts for guys is a gargantuan task - we’re not always upfront about what we want and often happy with pretty well anything. A blank slate can be intimidating. Good thing Edmonton has plenty of places to find perfect presents for dudes.
Nobody finds clothes easily, but it’s a wild journey for those of above average height, especially if you’re a lady. Lucky for the long-legged lasses around Edmonton, there are a few great options.
If you’re over six feet tall, chances are you have a few go-to replies in your back pocket, like your exact height and whether you play basketball. But, do you have a good place to grab clothes? There’s a few places in Edmonton that can help.
