Chef Anthony Rose has built a mini empire along the Dupont Street strip and his Middle Eastern endeavour is definitely worth repeat visits. You’ll find a few hummus variations on the menu: the signature Fat Pasha hummus is made in house with mashed chickpeas, tahini, lemon, smoked chipotle and extra virgin olive oil. If you’re looking for something a little different, try the haute truffle hummus prepared with poached duck egg and fragrant black truffle oil.

Tabülè Middle Eastern Cuisine

This Middle Eastern dining room (with locations in Leslieville and at Yonge and Eglinton) turns out authentic creamy hummus made with chickpea puree, Lebanese tahini sauce, fresh lemon juice and a touch of garlic. If you’re visiting at lunchtime, hummus can be added to any of the savoury pita sandwiches, which are stuffed with your choice of falafel, eggplant, halloumi cheese and a range of meats.

The hummus (available in large or regular plates) is made with mashed chickpeas mixed with garlic, lemon and tahini (ask for some house-made hot sauce to add a little spice). The décor is modest but the service is friendly, the portions are generous and prices are incredibly affordable.

This Mediterranean tapas bar on St. Clair West serves enticing Middle Eastern small plates that are designed for sharing. The menu features 40 appetizer-sized mezze dishes and diners are encouraged to order a wide variety of meat and vegetarian dishes and explore all of the different flavours. The houmous is a must-try chickpea dish made with tahini and lemon and a secret blend of spices. Get more bang for your buck on Tuesdays when every mezze dish is just $2.75.
