The Big Taste is a magnificent, multi-course celebration of the city’s gastronomic trends and favourite dishes. Eighty of the city’s hottest restaurants are serving value-priced, three- and five-course, prix-fixe meals from March 4 to 13, 2016. On top of these specially created daily meals, The Big Taste features 15 one-off, lunch and dinner “signature events.” Here is a tasty selection of eateries serving daily dinners.

A raft of new restaurants opened their doors late in 2015, and those listed here are hitting their stride. Among the food trends represented in this batch of notable eateries are tacos, fried chicken and bigger, better burgers, while craft beer and crafted cocktails top drink menus. Another trend that’s here to stay is carefully considered interior design that amps up that all-important eatery atmosphere.

The country’s top culinary contest, Gold Medal Plates pits the top chefs against each other in cooking combat. An event that takes place in 11 Canadian cities, local winners go on to compete in the Canadian Culinary Championships, raising millions in support of the country’s Olympic athletes along the way. The Calgary event takes place November 3 at the Telus Convention Centre, and features the following Calgary chefs.
