Sip a summer cocktail on these fine Montreal terraces

We’re all about spending our summer evenings on a terrace sipping cocktails! Some of these terraces serve food, some don’t at all, but they are all about enjoying cocktails on a hot summer night in Montreal. [Image credit: iStock.com/ ShotShare]

Scarlet Exclusive

1
139 Rue St Paul O, Montreal, QC H2Y 3W2

Scarlet Exclusive is a restaurant and bar with a gorgeous courtyard terrace out the back. The outdoor bar is surrounded by a canopy of plants, and low purple lighting and a fabulous vibe set the tone. You can come for dinner, but we prefer this place for cocktails and lounging. Located on the bustling St Paul Street in Old Montreal, it’s a perfectly glamorous stop on a Saturday night.

Buvette Chez Simone

2
4869 av du parc, Montréal, QC H2V 4E7

Charcuterie, wine and cheese on a quaint terrace on Park Avenue in Outremont. This is what Buvette Chez Simone is all about. They don’t take reservations so show up early and nab a seat – and if you're feeling peckish they have a great menu. This wine bar also serves beer and has cocktails too. It’s one of our favourite places to stop for a drink all year round.

Bar Waverly

3
5550 boul Saint-Laurent, Montréal, QC H2T 1S8

Waverly Bar is on St-Viateur (oddly it’s not on Waverly) and offers a fun terrace in the Mile End. The length of the bar is all glass and it opens onto a terrace that sits on the corner of St-Laurent Boulevard. Eclectic lighting, delicious cocktails, and that relaxed hipster vibe – this neighborhood bar is perfect for a low-key night with cocktails. They also make grilled cheese sandwiches if you start to feel hungry after throwing back a few!

Bar le Furco

4
425 rue Mayor, Montréal, QC H3A 1N9

We love Furco any time of year but in the summer it has a lovely little terrace tucked onto Mayor Street, right outside the bustle of the Quartier des spectacles in downtown Montreal. This cocktail bar is perfect: they don’t sell bottles so no need to deal with that obnoxious crowd, and it’s easy to get a seat. They have a few gourmet bar bites, but their cocktails are what they’re known for. Definitely a spot that we keep returning to.

Terrasse Place d'Armes

5
8-701 Côte de la Place d'Armes, Montréal, QC H2Y 3X2

Located atop the Place D’Armes Hotel in Old Montreal, Terrasse Place D’Armes is a rooftop terrace that’s always bustling on hot summer nights. Perfect for a 5 à 7 or late-night drinks, the DJ really sets the mood, and whether it’s a sunny day or hot night, we love coming here for a drink. Terrasse Place D’Armes serves some delicious signature cocktails that will make you fall in love with Montreal all over again.

New City Gas

6
950 rue Ottawa, Montreal, QC H3C 1S4

New City Gas is a popular concert venue with a gorgeous terrace. Their 5 à 7 on Thursdays is popular with the business crowd and is one of Montreal’s best. On weekends they turn things up a notch, bringing in DJs from all over the world. We recently saw Mark Knight spin on their terrace and loved the atmosphere. But it's those Thursdays that stand out as the place to be during their 5 à 7.

When we think of Mother’s Day we tend to think of brunch, but plenty of mothers would rather go out for dinner! These restaurants are open on Sunday nights, including Mother’s Day, and vary from French, to Italian, to Syrian, to Spanish and more. There is something for every mother and their finicky palate![image credit: iStock]
If there’s anyone who deserves to be spoiled, it’s our mothers! They take care of us all the time so it’s only fitting that we take at least one day a year and make it all about them. And there’s no better way to start than by treating mom to a fabulous brunch. Here are some restaurants around Montreal that will be serving a special Mother’s Day Brunch.[image credit: iStock]
Montreal has plenty of Thai restaurants awaiting your discovery. Take the opportunity to expand your knowledge of Asian cuisine by trying any of the authentic Thai restaurants below. You’ll find that Thai food is so much more than pad Thai, although an authentic pad Thai is hard to beat ;) [image credit: iStock]
