Vancouver health stores for vitamins and supplements

When it comes to vitamins and supplements, Vancouver has a ton of healthy spots to shop and explore. And not all of them have to break your budget either. Whether it’s a protein powder you’re after, or your monthly dose of Vitamin D, here’s a list of places to get your healthy fix and more. [Photo credit: iStock,com/stock_colors]

Pure Pharmacy

2685 Broadway W, Vancouver, BC V6K 2G2

With several locations across the city, Pure Pharmacy is more than just your run-of-the-mill drug store chain. Featuring a professionally curated variety of natural, homeopathic and pharmaceutical remedies, it’s Pure’s extremely knowledgeable staff with a dedication to whole body health and wellness, that sets it apart. With a loyalty program and Pure’s own pharmacist-compounded formulas onsite, it’s no wonder this store is every Naturopathic Doctor’s go-to, attracting regulars from near and far. Bottom line, if you’re unsure about what to take, why, or how much, look to Pure to put you on the path to wellness.

Whole Foods Market

510 8th Ave W, Vancouver, BC V5Z 1C5

There are grocery stores, and then there’s Whole Foods. Hugely loved for its local and organic produce, meats and cheeses – not to mention their famous buffet bar, bakery items and snack foods (I’m getting hungry just thinking about it) – Whole Foods also offers aisles-upon-aisles of natural health products. From sport supplements to shampoos, detox kits to dry brushes, you can pretty much find everything you need for a healthier, happier you. Coupled with their knowledgeable staff and regular mark-downs, there’s a whole lot to love about Whole Foods.

Body Energy Club

2146 Broadway W, Vancouver, BC V6K 2C8

With four locations near or next to gyms, Body Energy Club is every athlete’s dream destination. Think top-of-the-line protein powders, vitamin supplements, paleo to-go meals, cold pressed juices and more; Body Energy has it all – and at low prices too. If smoothies are your thing, you’ll be in heaven here. Featuring organic, high quality ingredients such as whey protein, almond butter, cocoa and nut milks, these crazy-good shakes are highly addictive (thank heavens for their loyalty program). It’s no wonder there’s often a line-up, but totally worth the short wait.

Finlandia Natural Pharmacy

1111 Broadway W, Vancouver, BC V6H 1G1

Talk about a full-service wellness institution. Established in 1974, Finlandia Pharmacy and Natural Health Centre is consistently voted as one of Vancouver’s best, and it’s easy to see why. Along with vitamins and supplements, they offer in-house services such as acupuncture, bio-identical hormone therapy, I.V. treatments and infrared sauna. The comprehensive staff includes naturopathic doctors, professional herbalists, holistic nutritionists and compounding pharmacists. Whether you’re looking for help with a specific issue, or simply want to be inspired by those who live and breathe healthy living, Finlandia has you covered.

London Drugs

5
710 Granville St, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1E4

Beyond its aisles (and aisles) of foods, kitchenware, home appliances, bath and body products, London Drugs has been stepping-up their game when it comes to vitamins and supplements, and for good reason. Carrying mass-brands such as Jamieson and Vega, as well as their own private label formulas, their selection is impressive, as are their lower price-points. For those of us who can always find reason to stock up at London Drugs (hello magazines, toothpaste, toilet paper!), you better pack a larger bag (and budget) as there’s plenty of in-store essentials to pick up and enjoy.

Victoria's Health

6
857 Hornby St, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1T9

To say I was totally floored on my first visit to Victoria’s Health Store would be an understatement. Imagine a health food store with hip factor, and you get the idea. From their smoothie bar and snack foods (parsnip chips, oh my!), to their curated assortment of supplements covering all the best brands, I just knew I’d be back for more. If that’s not enough, they also have Soda Stream waters on-tap with extremely friendly staff ready to serve. Check them out on social too, as they often post contests, sales and store events.

Maybe it’s because I grew up with sisters who love muffins, loaves and scones, or perhaps it’s a carb thing I’ll never give-up, but show me a healthy baked good, and I’m a happy gal. I’m also picky about ingredients, favouring quality stuff like almond flour, coconut oil, organic dark chocolate and cinnamon. While not always easy to find, guilt-free treats do exist here in Vancouver. [Photo credit: iStock.com/john shepherd]
