We tried the kusshi oysters and they were so good and fresh. All their sauce accompaniments worked well. The provided a tiny bucket of the best tasting, deep fried potatoe chips I have ever had, so addictive. My calamari was ok but my bouillabaisse was amazing in taste and portion. My eating companions all enjoyed the two types of chowder and their entrees. Lots of street parking available. The service was good with only a slight delay in timing of all the appetizers coming at once. Read more

I don't think you can go wrong with that place. I went there for my birthday, best service I had and how great to enjoy the melody of the piano in the background. The filet mignon was great and I can't wait to try the oysters and hopefully I get lucky enought to sit on the roof top patio during summer! Read more

My husband and I popped in to this restaurant for lunch one day last week. Everything about the establishment was perfect. The service, the setting, but most importantly the food! I try and hit up Rodney's whenever I am in Van. Located on trendy Hamilton St. it's got some serious character. Sit at the bar for a great view of the oyster shucking and some lively chat with the bartenders. Staff is friendly with plenty of personality. They have an oyster happy hour 4-6pm (if I remember correctly) where it's half price oysters. And seeing as many of the oysters and ingredients come right out of the ocean around BC the food is beyond fresh. And in case you were wondering, this place has the best selection of oysters I have seen yet. 11 different kinds on the last visit. My favorites being Fanny Bay and Kushi. Good selection of craft beer on tap too. Read more

I visited West with a friend that had been there a couple of times before. The outside of the restaurant was very unassuming. You would have no idea that there was a fantastic restaurant inside. Parking may be an issue as it's a busy streetfront but they did seem to have valet. We sat at the bar and had cesars until our table was ready--made fresh with muddled tomato right in front of our eyes. The food was all amazing both in appearance and taste. REALLY good.
