WORTH THE DRIVE FROM LONDON! Spend an afternoon touring the area (just minutes from Stratford) and on your way home stop here for dinner and buy some deserts to take home! What a great concept and place. Check out their website for their food rotating meat schedule. We had the Turkey dinner with roasted potatoes and hot cabbage. I admit that I chose the hot cabbage only because I didn't want the other option of carrots. One bite of their 'hot cabbage' and I was addicted! I can't tell you the last time that I have tasted something that I loved that much. I have no idea what they did or what was in it, but it was heaven! Everything was so good. Very clean and well kept. The staff are so nice and friendly. I suggest you take a few minutes after dinner to shop in their bakery. I saw a lot of mennonite ladies buying their pie shells their. You know the pastry is good if even the true bakers are buying the pastry shells there! The mennonite lady in front of me in line had 2 little girls and she bought 6 shells. The lady a couple behind me bought 2 shells. Then I was interested so I went and checked out the pies. The best decision I made because I bought 3 different fruit pies and they were probably the best I have had (sorry mom). I froze 2 of them. I froze 3 loaves of bread as well. Great stop after an afternoon of shopping in Stratford or site seeing. Just make sure to take home a desert and some bread! You won't regret those purchases! Read more

Excellent fish and chips dinner! I had halibut and chips with tartar sauce, creamy coleslaw and pasta salad on the side. The servings were very generous. My piece of fish was huge and I had lots of tartar sauce to go with it. I didn't run out. I love the fries. They are just like the ones that my mom used to make. After learning I would be dining alone tonight, I decided to try a tiny little place I had heard mentioned recently. My waiter was attentive, pleasant and quite knowledgeable about the food he was serving. The overall atmosphere was pleasing and would be the perfect setting for a romantic meal. The choices offered, combined with the soothing surroundings peaked my curiousity enough that I decide for the second time in the evening to try something new. I tried the Bison burger with Warm Potato salad. The server described it to me as a Bison burger with caramelized onions, smoked cheddar, truffle scented mushrooms and barbecue sauce. Jake & Humphreys make all their own bread items that appear on their menu, the combination of the Bison, toppings on a fresh and soft bun, made the whole item a palate pleaser. A nice glass of South African Cabernet Sauvignon enhanced what was already a sumptious dining experience. I will be returning to the restaurant again, definitely a great place to dine, relax and enjoy. Perhaps next time I will take someone with me or perhaps I will again go and enjoy another romantic meal for one! Hopefully next time I have room for dessert as they looked promising! Read more

I highly recommend Rene's for anyone who enjoys fine dining but doesn't want to experience "sticker shock" when the cheque arrives. While I enjoy fine food, I don't tend to enjoy "upscale" restaurants. The staff are usually haughty, the portions wouldn't satisfy a hummingbird, and I'm supposed to be impressed just because they artistically drizzled some raspberry sauce along the side of the plate. Rene's Bistro was a very pleasant surprise! While the menu choices were creative and the food delicious, the atmosphere was bustling and friendly. If felt more like a neighborhood cafe, and there were obviously both a lot of locals and tourists there. Best of all: no sticker shock. Read more
