The poutine is sooo good that that's what I pretty much get all the time. I also love the hamburgers and hotdogs. I get lunch at Nooners several times a week and have done so for at least 10 years (usually take-out). The food is always delicious - very fresh and homemade. Their soups and sandwiches are especially good (and the cookies....). I find the staff are always friendly, know regular customers by name (and their usual orders) and are very efficient despite the large number of people who are there for lunch every day. I do not think there is a lunch place anywhere else in London that can match Nooners for quality, speed and value. Read more

Have been going to Toronto for something like 5 years and usually eat here at least twice a trip. Food is very reasonable considering comparables, i.e. a famous hot dog place that also does corned beef/pastrami and where a lunch of a sandwich, very small (albeit yummy) potato salad and a large drink cost over $20 w/tax/tip. We go here, have my sandwich and drink, my girl has a pizza or a whatever and a Caesar. That usually runs $31-33 with tax/tip. When ordering from the delightful desert stand, it pushes your bill a considerable amount but is well worth the price! We have always found the staff extremely friendly and service to be excellent, even when the restaurant is incredibly busy. Read more

Had a great experience at Egglicious! Ive been here a couple times and it is also great from the friendly staff to the fresh and most flavourfull food you can ever find in Toronto. They have lots of Skillet Omelettes and Lots of Lunch Items. I had my Egglicious Skillet Omelette(What a omelette with bacon,ham, chedder cheese with hollandaise sauce). My wife had the Lumberjack & she loved it. The food is amazing, The staff's are very friendly, The place is clean. Even the restaurant was packed our food came on time. Lumberjack 3eggs,bacon(perfectlly cooked),sasage,homefries(the best),pancakes,fruit,toast for $9.95(good deal). My skillet was 8.95 . (not a lot of breakfast joints have skillet omelette). I would recomend this place to anyone.. The quality of the food to price.. You won't find it anywhere in Toronto. Even our next table was saying the samething about the food. I enjoyed working at this location for several hours. No one harrassed me about using the table for so long and the food was tasty and healthy so I didn't feel like I'd overindulged. That is, until a young Williams representative approached me and gave me a free Belgian Waffle slathered in ice cream. I've visited this little sub and ice cream shop many times and it always has me feeling very satisfied, and warm inside cause I was able to help out a small mom and pop shop. The man working here, whom I've yet to get his name is a vibrant heat warming fella'. Very friendly, makes you feel like a regular. The food, great! I can't believe anyone would rate this place poorly, for what it is its FANTASTIC. I've tried almost all the subs on the menu, my most recent visit I got the rib sub for myself, loaded it up with all the toppings, made a huge mess eating it and loved every minute of it. Its places and eats like this that make life all worth while, yes its a big statement I know but its truly a gem. Something has to be done right to get consistent high ratings. I was shocked to see someone write a poor review on this place knowing full well what they were getting into. These are the comfort foods that are hard to come by in this day and age with big franchised companies saturating the industry. From street meat to racks of lamb, I've had it all and this place gets my approval! I will be coming back and I'm bringing a crowd. Wheres Anthony Bourdain when you need him? p.s. Andy's is a great place for breakfast and even lunch. Their breakfast is the best and cheapest in town. Andy, the cook is a bit of a jerk but her makes a good breakfast. His son, the waiter, is pleasnat enough, not friendly at all but I think that's just the way he is. Anna, the wife is super nice and always talks about her grandkids in Greece and shows us pictues. My favourite breakfast is the cheese omletter and their club sandwich is excellent. They also have very good fish and chips. They used to stay open later on Friday nights to serve it, but don't any mor. Too bad. The only problem is that Deb doesn't work there any more. She was the best waitress and resposible for a lot of people coming in. She was friendly and seemed to know everybody. I miss he working there. In conclusion, good local place to eat for cheap. Zupa's is a great little diner for the entertainment district office lunch crowd. It's got all the basic trappings of your standard Greek / Casual Diner. Great burgers, souvlaki, deli sandwiches, fries, gravy, etc. They also serve breakfasts and will generally put together anything you want without much fuss. I usually get 2 eggs with bacon on a bagel with tomato, lettuce and mayo for $5 or so. Usually 1-2 lunch specials each day of the week. I wish I could remember what they all are, but there's usually Shepards Pie, Pot Pies, Chicken Legs, Spaghetti & Meat Balls, Fish & Chips, Philly Steak Sandwiches and my absolute personal favourite, Deluxe Roast Pork Thursdays. It's virtually a religious tradition at my office. The other really good must-have is the Egg's Benedict. Best I've ever had. I often head down there on the weekends even if I'm not working just to get it. Leo (the owner) is great and is always smiling & friendly. Service is usuallly quick unless you get caught during the middle of the lunch rush, but even then, there's usually 2-3 cooks taking orders and making food. Lots of space to sit down inside, but it's not much to look at, unless you're big on soccer (or some other sport) which is usually playing on the TV.
