Last week we had to organize a sudden meeting for our project with US clients. Due to lack of time we missed out planning for lunch but thanks to my ‘Opentable’ app Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Chicken Parmigianino, Spring Lamb with red wine that I found Carmelina Restaurant in Woodbine Avenue. Their event catering service for lunch & evening snacks made me & my team proud on my decision. I wonder how I missed looking this food place for last many years. Thank you Abbas for your cooperation & on-time food catering service with delicious Italian food as our guests loved it. Made a reservation online, probably a good idea, heard it was a busy spot. We were late for our reservation but they honored it. And it was packed. I had the special, can't remember the type of beef but it was one of the best hamburgers I've ever had, and the poutine was also amazing. My girl had the turkey burger and sweet potato fries and she loved it. We also had the Pickle Fries (good) as a starter and two pints of beer, bill with tip was around $80. Interesting and varied new menu items highlight a new season in this well-established eatery. The three-course Friday night special I had was truly wonderful, exciting, flavourful food. A mesclum mix was restrained by slices of cucumber, sliced lengthwise and curved to form a holder for the leaves, the whole drizzled with a piquant apple-based vinagrette. The pork tenderloin entree was three large pieces stuffed with a savoury dressing that was so tasty and plentiful that while I finished the pork, I took the rest of the stuffing home. Dessert was a chocolate/caramel custard in a crunchy pastry shell, topped with fresh strawberries and blackberries. Portion size gave good value for the price which was reasonable for the quality. Presentation throughout was as artistic as any classy place in Toronto but the outstanding things about the meal, to my mind, were the number of homemade items (dressing, stuffing, pudding, pastry) and the commitment to flavour everywhere. We've been to the Granite Brewery a number of times as the food is always fantastic with generous portions. In addition to the delicious food, they have a good selection of their own brews. We especially enjoyed their Ringwood, a delightful blonde. There are different atmospheres for different tastes, but at the Granite Brewery they have several to choose from. Two excellent patios, a bar, and a family restaurant area, all designed for comfort. The rear patio looks particularly amazing, but as it was raining, we'll just have to wait until next time to try it out. It should also be noted that the Granite Brewery has free parking with easy access. The Granite Brewery gets our highest recommendation and we will be back soon. Read more
