Favourite restaurant in Toronto. Clarification on why there are some BAD reviews and some AWESOME reviews: This place USED to be very loud, with really eclectic music playing - sometimes you'd hear edith pfaf, red hot chili peppers, and peaches all in a row. Yeah. I loved it - others did not. (old cranky people) It always confused me why people would go there and be surprised at the volume - they had a reputation. You do know you're a guest who chose to come to someone's private business? If the music's "hurting your ears" - GO EAT AT HOME. You see the 2 hour line-up to get in? They didn't get that by asking people like you what you think of the music!!!! In a couple of years time, I've noticed changes. Service was always excellent, and still is - just a different tone now. The space is more airy these days, and the servers there now seem more mature - the atmosphere is much mellower than in days past. Some would say it's missing the "old spark", others would say it's a great improvement! The FOOD is out of this world. AND ALWAYS WILL BE. Try involtini - it's pulled pork in proscuitto... or something... it doesn't matter what it is because eating it makes you go unconscious. GET IT! Read more

I wandered into this "pizza" place completely by accident, drawn in by the intriguing, hand-printed signs promising "Butter Chicken Rolls" and a variety of kebabs. I decided to sample two Indian-style specials: the Chicken Biryani, and a Butter Chicken Roll. Both my dishes were ready in just about 12 minutes, and both were delicious. First, the Butter Chicken Roll. A generous portion was wrapped up in a soft and fluffy Naan bread, with a counterpoint of freshly chopped lettuce adding a cool and crispy texture that perfectly underscored this classic sauce-heavy dish. It was delicious, and a bargain to boot! While the Butter Chicken Roll was very, very good, the Chicken Biryani was on a whole other level. I have had Chicken Biryani countless times over the years, both in high end Indian restaurants as well as in dive-y hole-in-the-wall joints, but NEVER have I had Chicken Biryani quite like this before. It was, quite simply, the best Chicken Biryani I have ever had in my life. Jamal's super-authentic Hyderabad style seasoning and delicious falling-off-the-bone dark meat chicken (as it should be!) are now the Gold Standard by which I shall forever gauge my future encounters with this particular dish. Wondeful experience. The server was friendly and attentive, the chef also came out to chat when we asked for recommendations. The bruschetta was fantastic as was the tiramisu dessert, but the pizza was by far my favourite part of the experience. Not overloaded with toppings but full of flavour.
