We had a lovely table by the window so we had a nice view. Overall ambience is very bright and contemporary. To our benefit the restaurant was not that busy on a weeknight and we parked very close. The service was very good. We enjoyed their daily flatbread special and crab cakes to start. For our mains we went with halibut and osso bucco, both too were very good and cooked just right. And to finish went with a delicious choco molten cake just perfect to share.

I try and hit up Rodney's whenever I am in Van.
Located on trendy Hamilton St. it's got some serious character. Sit at the bar for a great view of the oyster shucking and some lively chat with the bartenders. Staff is friendly with plenty of personality. They have an oyster happy hour 4-6pm (if I remember correctly) where it's half price oysters. And seeing as many of the oysters and ingredients come right out of the ocean around BC the food is beyond fresh.
And in case you were wondering, this place has the best selection of oysters I have seen yet. 11 different kinds on the last visit. My favorites being Fanny Bay and Kushi. Good selection of craft beer on tap too.

Easily the best place for Chinese in Surrey - or anywhere else for that matter. We've never eaten in, although we've done both take out and delivery. The delivery is amazingly fast... usually less than 20 minutes, and piping hot and fresh! The portions are very generous! Take out, the service was great, really fast and friendly. Casual atmosphere and high quality food is served here. The owner is the chef and enjoys his craft. The chicken where they poured hot oil over it to get the crispy skin, tofu and crab patties with seafood egg whites, fresh vegetables cooked just right, and seafood melon soup you need to preorder were my highlights I particularly liked. Their signature dish is a bitter melon omelette. Lots of parking in the plaza where it is located. Service is fairly good.

So a bunch of us finally headed down to the Blue Canoe for dinner. A few had been there before, and a few hadn't, but we always go and critique places together. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, not a detail was spared in the design of the restaurant.
The real tester is of course the food, and it did not disappoint. They've thrown together some amazing flavours and clearly taken some chances that have worked out in their favour. The Drummettes....I don't eat chicken wings anywhere, but these ones were in a soy sauce of some sort that was fantastic!! The BBQ Salmon was probably the best salmon that I've ever had at a restaurant....not overcooked like most places. So much flavour. That was it for me, but others had a wide variety of food and rave reviews on all counts. A few questions on the sides that they came with, but generous portions and smiles all around. Oh, and the beer is good too...

They have specials & Seniors day, which is nice. This was my second time here. The 1st time I took out of town guests from Okanagan who used to live on West Coast of Vancouver Island. The one request they made for when I was taking them out to dinner was fresh seafood. They loved it. I definitely will return.
