Excellent fish and chips dinner! I had halibut and chips with tartar sauce, creamy coleslaw and pasta salad on the side. The servings were very generous. My piece of fish was huge and I had lots of tartar sauce to go with it. I didn't run out. I love the fries. They are just like the ones that my mom used to make. Tramonto is not perfect, but they do care a lot. We have been there and had to wait for a table and then wait for food, but as far as restaurants in this little town that are really trying to make the town better this one gets a 5. Both the owner/ chef and his staff seem like a bunch of kids really passionate about food and wine and service. On a good night the food is perfect, better than many restaurants I have been to in London or Toronto, on a bad night you will wait an hour, the staff will be charming, and the food will still be great. On top of it, it seems like this is the restaurant here that really tries to be better all the time. Their wine list has gotten quite good, they change their menu seasonally, and they are very involved in the community, doing fashion shows and fundraisers and stuff. They have gotten better, they are still getting better, but don't go there if you only have half an hour. Read more

I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. I had a Grilled Sandwich with Bacon, Egg & Cheese with a Cream of Broccoli Soup. The sandwich was great and the soup was to die for - so creamy and made from scratch too! It was ready in minutes, so anyone could be in and out of there on their lunch break without a problem, even though the place was packed. I looked around and was very impressed by how clean and tidy this place was. All the staff, including the chef, was very friendly. The biggest surprise, was when I got to the till and saw how affordable it was! When you get great food, which is affordable, a spotless restaurant, friendly staff with good service, what else could you possibly want.......well, there was one thing - I don't prefer booths or stools, but it is part of the classic diner atmosphere and all the other benefits definitely outweigh this one very minor detail. The Bruce is a great casual spot to go when visiting Kincardine. The patio has a splendid view of Lake Huron (check out all the sailboats on club night). The wings are wonderful, the service pretty danged good, and the owner-operators are conscientious and courteous. We could not believe our luck. This cozy little place had all the ambiance of some of the best restaurants in Europe we've visited.Their wine list was really good with some very affordable choices. The food ranged from the best steak I have ever tasted to a delicious Thai dish enjoyed by several of our friends that contained the largest tiger shrimp I have ever seen. The Chef himself visited our table personally on three occasions to answer questions. Very unique place. We strongly recommend it to anyone visiting Kincardine. Read more

This place has the best bang for your dollar. The service is great the food is good. My wife, daughter and I all ate there the other night and had great meals . My daughter and I started with Cheddar and Ale soup ( Very Good) the wife shared ours. My daughter and I had the fish and chips while my wife settled on liver and onions. The fish and chips are fantastic even for someone who is not a big fish eater like my daughter. I had the double order of fish which I could barely eat it was so big. My wife loved the liver and onions, (liver onions is something that has to be cooked just right or it can go seriously wrong) The waitress was great.
