Basell's Restaurant & Tavern

On a positive note, the server was friendly and the beer was cold. The red house wine was sweet and tasted spoiled. We ordered hot turkey and beef sandwiches. The shaved bits of chicken was served with a comment "They scrounged up as much dark meat as they could find". My beef was overdone and tough. Everything was smothered in tasteless gravy the colour of dark chocolate. My mashed potatoes came from a box, and the coleslaw was very similar to a grocery store variety. Terrible experience.

Best Place Ever To Go For Breakfast

Everytime my boyfriend and i go for breakfast, we go to Basell's cause everyone is friendly there and the food is amazing. i would have to say if anyone hasnt been there they should go soon. the meal is always good and the portions are the best. i feel like im at home or at my grandmothers house by how much and how good the food is i love it.

Good experience!! Very low-key place away from the touristy area of the falls. Seems like a place for locals. Old looking place, but has a comfortable home feel to it. Food was good and prices were decent. Would visit again.

This restaurant has been a fixture in Niagara Falls for at least 40 years. The quality food, the huge portions, the low prices and the superb, friendly service, all in a very understated diner-type facility, are all of the reasons why this restaurant has endured over the years. Why wouldn't anybody eat here??? Nope, not glamorous or hi-brow, but if you want to be fed like your mamma would feed you, eat at Basell's. It is heart-warming to see that even those on a restricted budget can still dine out and get fed well. Not only that, but the owner and his staff remember and acknowledge EVERY returning patron. Nice!

This place has the best sausage and Canadian bacon I have ever had! Outstanding price and you can enjoy a nice beer with your meal!

I'm giving this place a 9 out of 10 only because I don't believe that anything's perfect (except, perhaps, for me!). This is a terrific throw-back diner (not done up in a faux "retro-style", but I just think it actually hasn't changed since the 60's). Anyway, we always go here when we visit the Falls, and always I get from nine to thirteen strips of bacon in my bacon'n'eggs order!! The home fries (ordered as an extra) are terrific, and are kinda-cheesy-tasting. Great value, great no-nonsense service.
