The worst restaurant in Stoney Creek!!! I ate 2 times at this restaurant. The first time I tried a sub for lunch the bread was extremely stale but I thought every sub place in town has had this happen. So the second time I went I ate in spaghetti and meatballs. Absolutely terrible!!!! Tasted like ketchup and raw ground beef which was still cold on the inside!!! Never Again
At first I was put off by the deli when you first walk in, but the seating area is quite nice. The buns were very good, and the Aglio Oglio sauce was very good. The caesar salad was delicious but as stated before it had the fake bacon bits. Will definietly be back to try more of the dishes.
My over-all feelings about this place weren't bad, but they weren't good either.
As far as atmosphere goes, even though the restaurant area is nicely decorated (at the back), it still has a dark and dingy vibe about it that I didn't care for.
Our server was very nice, polite and attentive. Our salads came out quickly. I liked that there was freshly grated cheese on top, but the bacon bits were the phoney-baloney artificially flavoured, red coloured salt bits. Why not use real bacon? It would have made a huge difference in quality.
I really enjoyed the hot fresh bread that came with our meal. That was probably my favourite part. Everything else was mediocre at best. The ravioli seemed under-cooked on the outside, and had a very dry crumbly filling. Flavor of the sauce was good though. The chicken cacciatore (which apparently usually isn't on the menu) again, had decent flavour, but something about it didn't seem fresh. The chicken seemed old like it had been sitting around for a long time or something which could be why they cooked it in sauce and called it cacciatore. I can't quite put my finger on it.
Like I said, it wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The meal all together reminded me more of left-overs than something made hot and fresh. For the price you pay, it didn't really seem worth it.
I may come back at lunch hour to try a panino but I don't think I'll be doing dinner again. I wouldn't recommend it.
To the lady's comment below...Iam very sorry to hear you had a bad experience. I think my daughters communion was that same weekend and we had our party upstairs. In all honesty our food was fabalous and lots of seconds to go around. We had 15 kids and the owner did not seem to show she did not like kids, however only asked us to keep them out of the way of servers as they were serving hot platters of food. Communion season is crazy as it is! I can't imagine how stressful it is for the family, let alone any restaurant who has to put up with us. lol
Just had my daughter's communion in the private banquet room and was EXTREMELY disappointed. I had heard this restaurant had some talented chefs. Unfortunately that was not the case. The antipasto left much to be desired - not much of anything. The only thing my guests commented on were the manicotti (being Italian I am very discriminating but that was the only dish that was very good). If it wasn't for the pasta, there would be no rating. The chicken tasted rancid, cooked in refried oil. The veal was tough perhaps previously frozen. Was promised vegetables with the entree and never got them. The portion sizes were so disappointing. Only one small scoop of salad per person, And to add to this terrible experience, it was difficult dealing with the owner. No customer service skills at all and does not seem to like children. When I would approach and ask for something, she would always say don't worry but never delivered. The two young ladies that served really did their best. Must be difficult to work there! As well, the bathroon light didn't work so you went in the dark and there was NO hand soap. The table clothes were dirty, Hard to believe from a person who kept professing hygiene and food safety!!! IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT HAVING A LARGE GROUP FOR AN EVENT, THINK AGAIN. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE. I ASSURE YOU, YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED!!
Been here a couple of dozen times and have only been truly "disappointed" once. This probably explains some of the negative reviews here.
The place serves home-cooked food and very little here comes out of a can.
It's not going to be some epicurean delight but you will get a good meal, cooked fresh.
They've had some bumps settling into the new location but my last few visits have me satisfied.
The soups, the pizzas and the pastas are always good with generous portions and are really an excellent value.
I went there for a late Thursday ngith dinner expecting a greatmeal prior hearing all but positive about the restaurant. I ordered a cesar salad as an appitizer. I can tell that the dressing was from a bottle. Although the lettuce was crisp and cold. For my entree i ordered lamb chops. ON the menu it said that it came with roasted potatoes. And garden vegetables. The lamb which i ordered rare was well done and the meat was thin over slated and cut thin as paper. I never recived the roased potatoes. Instead threy gave mew tomatoe risotoo which was too starechy, acudy and over slated. The vegetables were frozen from a bag and again we over slated. I was not impr4essed witht he food atall. We had two waitresses. Meaning we had trouble leaving a tip. They both told us different things about the menu which made it more difficult to order food. The atmosphere of the restaurant was extremely soothing and I felt like i was at home. Their sandwich baris out of style and definitely needs some re moddeling. I maybe might return but definetely get a different meal.
We went there this past weekend and the restaurant was full. Unfortunatley we did not have any reservations and there were no seats available. The owner came over and offered us drinks if we wouldn't mind waiting. She sat us in the take out area of the restaurant and brought over some fresh foccacia to hold our hunger over. We waited about a 1/2 hour and the wait was definetely worth it. We finally got a table and my husband and I enjoyed our meal, great music to go along with the atmsophere and to top it off, we enjoyed our first cappuccino with our Chocolate Almond Fudge cake. I will be returning and I must comment on how pleased i was with the food and the service and the owner who showed she appreciated our business and made us feel welcomed.
The food was adequate, nothing special. The new restaurant is nice, better than the old one. Unfortunately the owner/waitress needs some lessons of how to treat customers. Since customers are the lifeline of any business, it is a shame that her attitude is the reason we will never return to this restaurant.

We popped in one evening for appetizers and wine based on a good review from the Spec, and the proximity to our home. We were so impressed with both the service and the food we decided to go back for a full meal and were just as pleased. It's a clean, homey environment, a place you can relax. We have also taken out a full meal and will definitely go back.

The portions seemed quite large or it could be that the plate were flat & big :)Presentation wasn't really thought of but the food was good.

Amazing food. Portions were huge and the staff was friendly. The atmosphere of the restaurant is a little boring. No music playing. Not recommended for daters...the overall layout is wide open, not much room for privacy when the table beside you can hear exactly what your saying. Other than that, if your looking for good food, quick & fast, something different...give Salute a try.
I visited Salute upon reading a food critic review that was written up on the newspaper titled "THE VIEW" just a couple weeks ago. I would have to agree with the food critics. The food was excellent. Great portions at reasonable prices.
Yes, the service may not be top noch, but the food makes up for it. Its a family run restaurant...kinda like a mamma/pappa shop.
I do know that myself, & my family will definetly be returning. Iam not sure what these other reviewer's were thinking as well....maybe they were looking for more of a "upscale" kinda restaurant...if so...maybe they should eat in restaurants in Burlington or Oakville.

We visited Salute and found the food fabulous authentic Italian food. The servings were plenty and the kitchen sent us over a tasty pizza ( on the house) overflowing with cheeses etc. which was the bomb, tastiest I've ever had. I don't know what the last 2 other reviewers were on when they went there, but believe me the pizza was superb, as was the main course. Service was professional, and very friendly, kind and prompt. we will definately return , I Stoney Creek treasure. Everything is homemade including the hot bread .. bon apetite.

i had came into this restaurant once before and it was ok the good food broght me back and now that they had hired a new chef that greeted us and took care of the whole order with a beauitful 3 coarse meal...there new wood oven pizza is to die for the portions are very generous..i will definetly be coming back and booking my next party there!!
