Meet the owner

It’s not hard to find athletic inspiration at Hard Candy Fitness. The iconic face behind the gym happens to be one of the most recognizable international superstars—and fitness enthusiasts—in the world: Madonna. The Queen of Pop’s fingerprints are everywhere throughout the fourth-floor fitness facility inside the Aura Retail & Condo building at the intersection of Yonge and Gerrard. The walls of the gym are lined with giant murals of her likeness, smoothies at the juice bar are named after her songs (“Like a Prayer” and “Hollywood”) and the popular fitness class Addicted to Sweat is an exact replica of her daily personal training regimen.

“Madonna has really set a benchmark as someone who’s incredibly fit and really driven,” says Justin Elie, operations manager for the Toronto club. “That’s what inspires us at Hard Candy Fitness.”
