“When our family first came to Canada from Mexico City, we had to unite and look out for each other,” says Luis Morgado. “Looking back, I think this was great training for working together at  El Rincon Mexicano Restaurant. We work like clockwork.” Luis takes care of the business side of things, younger brother Jorge is the executive chef and sister Christina manages the staff.

The siblings opened the restaurant in 2004 with an important culinary agenda: to show Torontonians what real Mexican food is all about. The menu is a smorgasbord of the best of Mexican cuisine with a carefully prepared selection of appetizers, soups, salads, tortilla dishes, seafood, fajitas and traditional desserts including fried ice cream.

I absolutely loved the atmosphere and vibe of the restaurant. The weather was perfect so we d I Ned on the patio, which was simply decorated and very spacious. The staff was super friendly and very kind. I found the food, especially the fish tacos needed a bit more flavourful, but all-in-all, a very pleasant evening at El Rincon.

We used to eat here way back and could not stop raving about the food. This time, the tacos were flimsy and rather bland. They fell apart as soon as we picked them up and I saw this happen to other people as well. Guacamole and salsa was good. Service was very nice however due to his experience not being what we remembered, we will probably not be back

We drove 2 hours to get to the restaurant and I brought family from California and they didn't have items from the you got to eat here show, the waitress wouldn't let us have mixed taco or mixed meat items NOT until the manager let us. Then when I ordered dessert which was on their menu 'fried ice cream' they didn't have it. Their wasn't that many customers in the restaurant to have run out. Very disappointing! The utensils and glasses were dirty and we had to send them back. My aunt was elderly and couldn't go down their steep stairs to go to the bathroom, it's not for old or handicap people. My aunt had to go around the nearby restaurants all had downstairs bathroom good thing speed auto across the road let her go there as they were closing. The food I ordered was good due to the manager letting me order a variety. My niece ordered a flan from the menu plain and when the waitress brought it had chocolate all over it and the waitress said it cost $4 and they charged us $5. I'm so glad the manager was so accomodating cuz our waitress wasn't. She was pleasant and served us pretty good but was not willing to our needs however she did offer for us to talk to the manager. I don't think it right to be on the tv show and then when you go there they don't have those items. And you don't get beans and rice with your meal, you just get one. You have to pay $4 for a very small dish of rice or beans. Salsa and chip cost too $4, a lot of Mexican restaurants put it on the table for everyone free. Tortilla soup was good but it cost $12. We were going to have the glass of corn and mayo but it cost too much. I have mixed feelings about this restaurant and I made a reservation for our dinner but they had no idea we were coming.

Been coming for years. Over past 2 years quality & service has gone down and prices have gone up. My father in law fell to the ground after tripping over the stairs outside and the waitress just stared, check if he was okay. Should be better marked as lots of uneven ground outside.

Adorable little place - a little kitch and as long as you're sitting upstairs ok but downstairs we felt a little out of the way and abandoned in the basement.

Main course and appetizers were very tasty. The margaritas were a disappointment, as they clearly were made with a mix, as opposed to fresh lime juice. The service was slow, and the desserts were very underwhelming.

We saw El Rincon on "You gotta Eat here" and made reservations for Valentines dinner. The service was good. The food was good. The venue is a little small and tables close together. I would recommend you give it a a try if you like authentic Mexican

I had the sopes and the parillada. The sopes had great texture but were very bland, I think hot sauce should be optional with these. The parillada came with a lot of meat, all of which was well cooked and seasoned but there was hardly any sauce in the molcajete it was served in so when I used the tortilla to wrap the meat it was just dry meat with tortilla. I needed more sauce and cheese with that. A LOT more. My husband ordered the guacamole, it was bland- needed more lime and maybe some more cilantro. They should have provided lime on the side of this dish. My husband also had the burrito which he said was good. I was disappointed when we asked for dessert and none of the items except for the churros were available. The service was nice, the waitress was very accommodating, there was good music playing but it didn't live up to the hype on You Gotta Eat Here. We may come back.

In spite of all the recommendations for this restaurant I was very disappointed in the service and food. I would certainly not return and would not recommend El Rincon to anyone looking for a Mexican dining experience. We were seated within 10 minutes of arrive. A server did brings drinks to the table but that is when the service ended. It took 55 minutes to get our entrees. The mole poblano chicken was unappetizing and the chicken was sparse and overlooked. The fijitas contained a small amount of meat and was 25% onions. The fixing that came along with the meal were not enough for the all the tortillas and it was an extra charge for another serving. Overall the food was not good, the service was subpar and the serving sizes were skimpy. I left feelimg like I overpaid for a mediocre experience.

A little pricier compared to the ambiance ; service was a tad slower even though the weren't many people in the restaurant. However, the food is not mind blowing but good, You will leave happy after your meal and would want to come back. I would keep this place in mind next time i crave mexican comida :) Gracias !
