Meet the owner

Scott Judges is in a bit of a unique position in Toronto. “Believe it or not,” he says, “I’m the only independent bike fitter in the entire city that’s not associated with a bike shop.”

With an education in biology and a lifelong passion for cycling, Scott became interested in bike fitting when he became frustrated with his own aches and pains after getting back into riding in 1998. But this happened at a time when bike fitting was a scarcely heard of notion, and even when he opened FITT 1ST in 2010, it was stilled what he called a fledgling profession.

Undaunted, Scott undertook the task of educating himself on the bio mechanics of the human body and how they related to the most efficient positioning on the bicycle, and became certified as a Professional Bicycle Fitter through the Serotta International Cycling Institute in New York. When he was ready, business quickly came calling. “I started to fix my own issues, one by one,” he remembers, “…and then people started to hear that I knew a little about bike fit, so people and friends that I would ride with, or friends of friends, would call me up and say, ‘Hey Scott, could you take a look at me?’” Because of his expertise and success with clients, the number of referrals quickly ballooned, and that was when Scott decided to open FITT 1ST.

Scott did an amazing job fitting my new bike. He was incredibly thorough and took time to explain everything that he was measuring and changing on my bike. His service was well worth the investment!
