“My whole life has been about food. All I’ve known is eating, cooking, sharing and celebrating with food,” says Armando Pronesti chef-owner at Stazione Centrale. “It’s always been part of my life, and you know what? A lot of it has come through my mother. I call what we serve Italian comfort food.”
Although packed with options that speak of an exciting mix of traditional family recipes (fresh pasta galore) and modern experiment (pasta sauce with kale), the menu items bear decidedly un-Italian names. Dishes such as The Box Car, The Rare Mileage and The C-Train reflect the central station theme of the restaurant. I have been to Stazione Centrale many times and the food is always outstanding. Nabil our server is attentive but not intrusive and of course, Armando Pronesti, the owner, along with his sister Lucy delivers amazing flavors with a home cooking touch. Last night I had the special - braised lamb shank on a bed of portobello mushroom risotto and it was one of the best meals I have ever experienced. Bravo!

Only food issue was this pizza like appetizer. Thought it was going to be more like a flat pizza but it was not. Fries were a little dry. Pasta was great. We shared between 4 of us.
This is a fabulous restaurant and I'm so glad I found it! We shared a number of dishes - the sausages and rapini were amazing and the fried pizza incredible. We also ordered mussels, smoked rainbow trout and salmon carpaccio. All were delicious and the ambience was relaxed and funky. I would highly recommend this restaurant.
