Minh-Quan Dam has always been passionate about bikes, but he wasn't satisfied with what was available on the market. So he, his brother and two other partners decided to make the bikes that they themselves would buy. It was this simple logic that brought Courselle Cycles into being in 2014. "We prefer a more industrial, very design-driven, minimal style and that wasn't reflected in what was available on the market at the time," says Minh.
With each of them working in specific areas, he and his partners have used their expertise to bring the business to life. Their first job was to research where to have the bicycles made. "We soon found that the best bikes in the world come from Taiwan. We went there ourselves to find manufacturers," says Minh. Conceived and designed in Montreal, the various components of Courselle bikes are manufactured in Taiwan by different suppliers and assembled here into a single product. With an evocative company slogan like, "Death to walking", Courselle Cycles celebrates the bicycle and its many fans.
In addition to the industrial style of the bikes that speaks of the city, Montreal is central to the branding of Courselle products. In fact, the range and models are directly inspired by the streets and neighbourhoods of Montreal, with names like Mile End and Ville-Marie. The company's name is inspired by de Courcelles Street and the bar of the same name, also in the Saint-Henri neighbourhood.
