When Le StyleBar opened its doors in 2013, it introduced Montreal to a new concept: the blow-dry bar. The no-fuss, wash and blow-dry service is the antithesis of the traditional hair salon experience. Forget flipping through worn-out tabloids, every blow-dry station is equipped with an iPad where you can browse through a selection of over 100 magazines while getting your hair styled. Universal phone chargers complete Le StyleBar’s techy vibe, along with an online booking system that allows you to schedule your next-morning hair appointment late at night.

“I wanted to have a high-end look without the high-end prices,” says co-owner Nauzie Dibai, who partnered up with her brother Nader Dibai to create the business and offer good hair days at $35 a pop. The salon boasts an all-white decor with a few black or red accents, big chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and an imposing rectangular bar around which the seven blow-dry chairs are placed. You only get to see yourself at the end of your hair-styling session, when your chair is rotated to face the mirrors on the wall. Instead, you face a TV screen playing movies.
