Meet the owner

Club Social is in every way an institution of the Mile End. Situated on St. Viateur and Esplanade Avenue, it holds the pinnacle of central locations. Even in cold autumn months patrons crowd the benches outside with their kids and dogs. Inside, older people or the solitary types occupy tables with their newspapers and novels — rarely is a laptop seen.

This is a place of charm and character and the laid back, friendly staff adds to the appeal. It is also considered a top contender for the best latte in Montreal, which is no faint praise in this neighbourhood. However, few people who come to Club Social appreciate that it once served as a social club, and still does to this day. There’s not much difference between then and now, which is all to say that this is not just another coffee shop.
