“Tourism is my retirement career,” says founder of Excursions Montréal, André Saint-Amant, a proud Montrealer who is passionate about sharing his city. “Before working in the tourism industry I worked in market research and marketing. But after spending something like 20 years in that field, I could not do it anymore. It might sound funny, but it is a little bit because of my dog that I do what I do for a living. Since I live close to Old Montreal, I would often walk my dog around there; I would see a lot of tourists with their maps, looking a little bit lost. I would help them find their way,” he explains. “Then one day I said to myself that I could make a good tour guide.”
André attended theInstitut de tourisme et d'hôtellerie du Québec, where he received his diploma in 2013. “So I launched Excursions Montréal in May 2014 as a way for me to share my passion for my city with its visitors, to make them discover Montreal in a unique way and to design unique itineraries prepared just for them.”
