Though part of an industry often identified with counterculture, there was at least a small share of capitalist opportunism at the heart of founding Le Vapeur Express. “One of my friends, who ultimately became my partner in this business, saw the queues for other e-liquid shops and figured we had to take the opportunity and jump into a business like this,” says Juan Lamontagne, co-owner and head flavourist. “It was only shortly after in April 2014 that we opened this first shop!”

Of course, opportunism isn’t the only thing at the heart of this rustic renaissance. “My partners are happier to take care of the business end in this enterprise, but I’ve had an interest in e-liquids for several years.” Juan’s openness seems utterly natural, and his welcoming manner seems to come through in his craft and products. “This started as a hobby, and though we're making waves with this as a profession, we maintain the passion, attitude and willingness to experiment with hardcore, dedicated amateurs,” he adds.
