Awesome places to get a beer in West Vancouver

Given the community’s strong ties to Great Britain, it should come as no surprise that there are many great spots in West Vancouver to score a frosty glass of beer. Whether you’re out socializing with friends or watching the big game, here are some great spots to get a pint.

Troller Ale House

1
6342 Bay St, West Vancouver, BC V7W 2G9

Troller’s is your last chance for a pint before boarding a ferry to Vancouver Island or the Sunshine Coast. Still relatively new, they’ve become a very welcome addition to the Horseshoe Bay neighbourhood. They have a good selection of beers on tap featuring many of the more unusual beers from throughout the region. This is a great place to quietly kill some time if you’ve missed your ferry or when some of your friends are running late.

Squarerigger Pub

2
150-1425 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7T 1B9

Located across from Ambleside Beach, the Square Rigger Pub is the perfect spot for large groups looking for a night out or just a couple of friends wanting to cheer on the Canucks. While they might not have the largest selection in the area, their low prices, friendly staff and unpretentious atmosphere have helped them to become a community favourite. They also have a game room with darts and arcade games and they frequently host live bands.

Crazy Raven Bar & Grill

3
6000 Cypress Bowl Rd, Vancouver, BC V7S 3E7

Even if it isn’t the easiest place to get to, you’d be hard-pressed to find a better spot to enjoy a pint than atop Cypress Mountain. Crazy Raven has a balanced collection of taps, finding room for popular domestic lagers, relatively small-batch craft brews and even their own Crazy Raven Pale Ale made by Granville Island Brewing. There’s also a quality food menu, including burgers, snacks and other après ski delights.

Village Taphouse Restaurant

4
1-900C Main St, West Vancouver, BC V7T 2Z3

With more than 20 beers on tap, including many local crafts, the Village Taphouse is the only pub of its kind in West Vancouver. Apart from offering beers by the pint, they also serve tasting flights, giving new craft beer drinkers an opportunity to try several styles from pilsners and lagers to pale ales and stouts. The atmosphere draws heavily from the friendliness and warmth of traditional English pubs and all guests are sure to feel comfortable and relaxed.

The Red Lion Bar & Grill

5
2427 Marine Dr, West Vancouver, BC V7V 1L3

A popular spot in the heart of Dundarave Village, this English-style pub has been serving cold beers in a warm atmosphere since 2004. There are more than a dozen beers on tap, ranging from local crafts like Fat Tug and Howe Sound to some great British Imports like Kilkenny and Guinness. In addition to the tap choices, they also have a great selection of pub food, salads and appetizers.

On a cold, snowy Edmonton night, nothing says lovin’ like a cup of hot chocolate. It’s no surprise this drink was originally dubbed the “elixir of the gods.” Regardless of the variety you select, or whether you opt for the simplest hot chocolate on the menu, all I can say is ... don’t forget the marshmallows.
