Burgers, sandwiches, po’ boys and more in Edmonton

Nothing says North America more than a good old classic burger. There are so many different varieties that you can choose from and definitely a lot of options when it comes to eating out. It can be bit daunting to choose a good burger place but these are my favourite places to grab a casual burger or sandwich!

The Next Act Pub & Grill

1
8224 104 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 4E6

Whyte Avenue is full of good eateries and shops that range from upscale to lower key. When I just want to grab a quick bite to eat and a couple of drinks, I usually go for The Next Act. They have great signature burgers and sandwiches, and a great, casual atmosphere to enjoy it in. My favourite would have to be the smoked chicken sandwich, featuring the smoked chicken from The Next Act’s sister restaurant, MEAT, which is right next door

Dadeo

10548A 82 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6E 2A4

Another favourite place of mine on a Monday or Tuesday would have to be Dadeo. Monday and Tuesdays are their cheap po’ boy night, where you can get great Southern sandwiches on a freshly baked French loaf. They have 13 different kinds of po’ boys, and I am not embarrassed to say I’ve tried them all – and they’re all good!

Sloppy Hoggs

9563 118 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T5G 0N9

Sloppy Hogg’s Roed Hus does sandwiches right. If you’re a meat eater and want a sandwich that’s a challenge, this is the place for you. Their Roed Hus Road Kill sandwich features more than 20 oz. of meat (brisket, smoked chicken, smoked pork and bacon), served on a house-made waffle bun. Delicious!

Sugar Bowl Coffee & Juice Bar

10922 88 Ave NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 0Z1

Sugarbowl is one of those places that is great for any time of the day. I love their cinnamon buns for breakfast and, for dinner, it’s tough to beat their lamb burger. It’s a nice little restaurant right at the top of the High Level Bridge by the University of Alberta. And, with more than 160 craft beer available, you have a great selection to choose from to wash down your burger!

Rodeo Burger

8525B 112 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T6G 2L7

Rodeo Burger is the place I go to when I want a treat at lunch. It’s located right across the street from the Stollery Children’s Hospital, so it’s super easy for me to get to. My favourite is the Aussie burger! I love pickled beets. Their other signature burgers are great, too or you can build your own burger with their ample toppings!

Red Robin

6
11215 104 Ave, Edmonton, AB T5K 2S1

Last but not least, is Red Robin. I know Red Robin is a chain, but they do burgers really well. They have an extensive list of burgers of all kinds, and some can be quite unique. Throw in bottomless thick cut fries and I’m in! One thing I can say about the 104 Avenue location of Red Robin is that I always get great service there, and everyone is so friendly!

The food truck scene in Edmonton has only gotten better over the last few years. And, what with us being the city known for its numerous festivals, there is no better venue than outdoors to pig out and enjoy some delicious food from the food trucks on a beautiful summer day. This short list is only few of many delicious trucks to choose from! [Image credit: iStock.com/Maica]
The great thing about noodles is how universal and international it is. In almost all cuisines around the world, there is some sort of noodle or pasta dish. Here is a list of different kinds of noodles from different kinds of cuisines in the world, each with its own twist.
Going out to eat can be a bit restrictive if you’re vegetarian. Options are limited, but that doesn’t mean you can’t go out for some good food! These restaurants are some of my favourite places for some vegetarian food! [Image credit: iStock.com/haoliang]
