The owner of this cute basement café and cheese shop is obsessed with cheese and it shows in the impressive selection and passionately written descriptions. Guests can enjoy a cheese board, choosing from a about 75 to 100 different cheeses from Europe and Canada, which change depending on the season. Standout cheeses include local favourites Sylvan Star grizzly Gouda and The Cheesiry pecorino. Enjoy with a glass of wine (wine pairings are included on the menu) or an espresso.

Paddy’s carries a huge variety of cheeses, ranging from local to European, and goat to sheep to cow’s milk. The staff are really knowledgeable and are happy to answer questions and make suggestions. They’ll lead you to try something you may never have considered, like an ash-ripened goat cheese from Quebec that looks questionable but tastes amazing. Located in the High Street Complex, this tiny shop is easy to walk by if you don’t know it’s there, so keep your eyes open.

They are one of the best places to find a selection of cheese from Fairwinds Farm in Fort Macleod. The goat Gouda from Fairwinds is life-changing – it’s that good. The Daiya vegan cheese comes in various forms, including block, shredded, sliced and cream cheese style. Planet Organic Market sells a lot of locally-made cheeses, as well as some of the harder to find organic cheeses.
