Edmonton steakhouses to sink your teeth into

True carnivores don’t waste their time with anything less than steak. It’s the cream of the crop in the beef world, and you’ll find it in every cut and size at these restaurants in Edmonton.

Sage Restaurant at the Marriot River Cree Casino

1
East Lapotac PO Box 300, Enoch, AB T7X 3Y3

While a lot of people go to River Cree Resort & Casino to gamble, I go for a sure bet — the steak at Sage. It’s juicy. It’s big. It’s worth the drive out to Enoch. The filet mignon is the size of a baseball, and the beef striploin is succulent without being too fatty. The fantastic steak and elegant atmosphere are why Avenue magazine awarded Sage honourable mention in their Best Steak category in 2013.

Chop Steakhouse & Bar

2
10111 Ellerslie Rd SW, Edmonton, AB T6X 0J3

All of the steaks here are aged 28 days, then cooked to juicy perfection. Whether you go small with steak bites (served with a sweet Dijon barbecue dip and horseradish aioli) or big with the 16-ounce bone-in New York steak, you’ll be happy with your choice. The 12-ounce peppercorn New York with Madagascar brandy peppercorn sauce is also a prime choice. If you like surf and turf, there are plenty of steak and lobster combos available.

Cactus Club Cafe

3
11150 Jasper Avenue, Edmonton, AB T5K 2V2

So many steaks to chose from, so little time. Do you splurge on the peppercorn New York striploin — 12 ounces of perfection! — or do you go for the awesomely-named millionaire’s cut? The way to make the most of your steak experience here is to customize your own — pick the size, cut and sauce, then add on the extras. You want mushrooms? You go, girl. You want your sirloin blackened with creole butter? You do you, girl. You do you.

RGE RD

4
10643 123 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 1P3

This farm-to-fork restaurant sources its steak from local farms, including Nature’s Green Acres, south of Viking, Alberta. The beef on the menu is market price, but always worth it. The restaurant is cozy, with rustic décor that makes you feel like your meal may have met its maker just outside the door (it didn’t). The point is, you feel close to nature, close to the cow and close to heaven as you bite into this juicy steak.

The Marc Restaurant

5
9940 106th Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5K 2N2

The Marc is where I go on my birthday for lunch to treat myself to something I know will be perfect, the grilled bavette flank steak. This modern French restaurant is filled with light during the day — all the better to see your delicious steak with. And at night, it transforms into a romantic restaurant with steak frites on the menu. The only thing more amazing than their truffle aioli dip for the fries is the beautiful, succulent, perfectly cooked steak itself.

Manor Casual Bistro

6
10109 125 Street NW, Edmonton, AB T5N 1S7

This cute restaurant, located in a converted historic house in Glenora, boasts a concise menu. The only steak on the menu — simply labelled “beef” — is elegant and unassuming, but still damn tasty. The AAA striploin will put you in a food coma, in the best way possible. Every bite is savoury, supple and so worth it.

In April 2016, Conde Nast Traveler's Readers' Choice Awards for the Best Pizza in the World: The Top 14 Cities for Pizza placed Edmonton at number eight on the list. With a diverse number of fantastic pizzas to choose from, including hand-tossed, wood-fired pies with white or red sauce and fun toppings ranging from pineapple to pine nuts, you're sure to find one you adore. Buon appetito!
A first date can be make or break – increase your odds by picking the perfect restaurant. These Edmonton dining establishments will bring the cupids flying over to your table and help you get to that second date with their romantic ambiance and excellent food and wine.
Sometimes you need a little nosh between dinner and bedtime. Slim pickings in the cupboard? Worry not! Put down the bowl of stale chips and head to these Edmonton late night restaurants for a snack worthy of your time.
